I've never played this series before. Is this game any good?
Nope
Is pretty good if you like BURAKING ZA RAWWWW as well as BURAKING ZA RUUURUUU
Yes, but only play 0 and Kiwami. The series goes downhill from there (6 being the absolute worst).
>>375946085
What was bad about 6?
>>375946357
Least content since 2
Dumb plot that ruined several characters
Bad combat because new engine
>>375946357
you get to hunt bears in misty valleys during winter
its absolute shit
Best game of 2017 and arguably the best Yakuza game.
>>375946509
I thought that's 5?
>>375945401

Play the Japanese demo since it's pretty much the main game's first chapter, nothing changes besides Club Sega being unlocked in the main game.
>Base PS4 the game runs at 900p with screen tearing and frame drops while the Pro is at 1080p with no screen tearing and no frame drops outside of karaoke for some reason.
>Fighting feels like hits have absolutely no impact unless you're using a bike or it's the finishing hit of the battle.
>According to people who actually bought it and beat it say bikes are the strongest form of attacks and are in nearly every single battle and even when you expand out to all the upgrades Kiryu doesn't feel as flexible or have as many moves as he did in the older games.
>Very few substories (Something like 20 or 30?) because everything had to be voiced now.
>You can't enter the Champion's District, Kamuro Hills, or one other place at all.
>People who have gone through the story say it's basically ruining characters like Kiryu and Haruka on top of barely having characters like Akiyama or Saejima appear at all.
I think I remember someone complaining about how little Majima was around as well.
Personally the demo soured me on the fighting, it just feels empty and everything lacks impact at all, and the only enjoyable part about it was how you can instantly go from world encounter to battle without any loading screen or barely any wait at all, the finishing hit, and how your attacks launch people across the map. Also being able to enter any store without any kind of loading screen is magical when you first experience it after all the other games.

OBLIGITORY THIS. MOTHER FUCKER:

>>375944213
Yes, GOD yes. It might be the most perfect Yakuza game ever, and i have been playing since 1 came out in 2005.
It was so clear they wanted to hark back to the feel of the orginal Yakuza game, and really this is what we all wanted to see. A young Kiryu doing Yakuza shit.
You don't HAVE to play release order to play this game, but you will apreciate SO much more if you just do OP. How many of you were even hype to see a full 3D Sotenbori in Yakuza 5? How many of you got FUCKING CHILLS when this started playing at the end??:
https://youtu.be/ihEJaxzSAQ4
It felt like shit had come full circle when i heard those female vocals once again. This game reawakened a loss feeling for vidya that even Yakuza had lost a little by 5.
>>375948159
What the fuck is up with the screen tearing in 6?
I didn't even know that was possible on consoles.
>went to 3 Walmarts, 2 Targets, 3 Gamestops, and 1 Best Buy to find this
>not in stock in any of them
>have to wait a week for it to arrive from Amazon free shipping as they are Jewing me $10 for for 2 day shipping
Yet I see those stores stocked with Battleborn.
Post your jam

Im not even kidding. I have this in my phone itunes.
>Hana: He has a gun! What if he tries to rape me!?
>Akiyama: Rape? You? Ha ha ha ha ha.
>Erena: Mr. Akiyama! I love you!
>Akiyama: Thanks.
>Random man: Hey, are you a stalker of some sort?
>Akiyama: Have you ever seen a stalker dressed this sharp before?
>Akiyama: Just don't think an avarage, law-abiding citizen can't bring you down.
>In fights his taunts are amazing, especially the one where he squats to belittle the guy he knocked on the ground.
>Can kick 9 times in his fourth square attack and extend his triangle combos three times.
>Saigo gives him a damage boost of all things.
>Pole Smasher does that thing from that one Bancho movie gif where it actually snaps the guy's jaw half way across his face.
Akiyama is a gift we must cherish.
Speaking of 4 though, what in the world is up with the minigames? They're obscenely easy compared to 3 with the exception of golf, golf has suddenly become nigh impossible (Although I hear Kiryu fixes this). Baseball had 3's Extra Hard level as its Hard but you got basically double the points and it was way easier to get the highest rank, and Extra Hard not only didn't get rid of the crosshair but it also gave you the highest score within just one filling of the board which could be done with 10 balls and either the 500 pointer after that or just another four panels. The 50k in one game of Mahjong was pretty bad but even that didn't feel like an insurmountable wall as before.
>>375950890
Thankfully I've got myself a Pro so I don't have to deal with it, but what I saw of a Japanese video was ludicrous, it was like every time the screen turned at all it tore massively.
Ishin never ;_;

>Base PS4 the game runs at 900p with screen tearing and frame drops
Damn, that sucks.
>>375944213
It is. Story gets better with each chapter, shitton of content, lot of nostalgia and fan service if you played first one. Bought for 40$ on PSN and don't regret single penny.
>>375953328
Aw you didn't want physical?
It was my first in series and I loved it
I'm excited for remake of 1 soon
Damn, it's hard to imagine Maijma in Yakuza 0 and 1 is the same person. I mean compare this

with this:

>>375950706
Too bad they changed soundtrack in Kiwami. It would be perfect remaster.
>>375954432
It's a remake, not a remaster. Yakuza 1 was already remastered with Yakuza 2 on PS3 (and Wii U) as a JP-only release.
>>375955276
I wouldn't call it that. Everything is exactly the same in terms of story, dialogues and characters.
>>375955449
They also re-recorded some of the dialogue, added new sub-stories and changed the combat system to the Yakuza 0 one.
>>375954432
d-do you think they will ever do 2?? I could finish gaming then.
>>375955449
The same but "REMADE" with new engines and assests anon.
>>375955449
They changed a lot man. Shinji's VA is completely different, all major things like story discussions and substories are voiced even in the text-only stuff, Majima either takes part in substories or he's a separate part for you to unlockKiryu's original Y1 moveset, they put in 0's fighting system of style changes, there's more substories, and there's a lot more stuff regarding Nishiki for people coming from 0 since he wasn't that major in regards to story since you only meet himwhen he comes to New Serena to talk to Kiryuand thenyou see a bit of him talking about the one chick who got killedbeforeyou fight him in the end of the game and have all that Jingu stuff happen.
I mean, it's more of a remake, not a remaster since there's so much changed in regards to gameplay and even some story differences due to the added scenes. They even extended some old scenes like when you meet Majima for the first time, it ends with Majima leaving and that's that but in Kiwami Kiryu has a longer discussion with him as he's leaving.
>>375957506
there should be zero consfusion anyway. a REMAKE is a game that is built from the ground up.
a REMASTER takes the exact same game and ups the resolution, fps, touches up the paintwork and rereleases.
How are those clear and easy defenitions even up for debate these days?
>>375958204
I think the fact that a lot of cutscenes are 1:1 in terms of animation confuse people, it's most definitely a remake. Hell, they have all the modern minigames as well whereas 1 was just Baseball, Slots, UFO Catcher, the casino games, and Chou-han, that was it.
>>375958789
I must admit i was impressed to see how 1:1 side by side those cutscenes are. But i seriously could not believe it when i saw a video on youtube going on for 5 minutes about the diffirence between a "remake" and a "remaster" as if it needed to actually be explained.
How can these mother fuckers be this dumb?
>>375958967
Is Kiwami getting localized?
>>375959079
Yes, it's even $30 and comes with a steelbook if you pre-order, it's great.
>>375959191
Do you think they are gonna hold bacl on each release before confirming the next one? Like even though Zero did ok, if Kiwami doesn't sell we won't get 6?
>>375959542
6 is already confirmed to be coming over no matter what, it was confirmed along with Kiwami and I think 0? I can't remember which one it was confirmed with. At this point the PSP games, Kenzan, and Ishin are looking to be the only games we don't get, and who knows about Ishin since Nioh did very well which could have stirred the pot on that "Westerners don't want historical Japanese game" deal.
>>375959663
They have zero fucking clue (or care, to be fair) about what we want. When Harada asked for ideas about special guest characters for Tekken 7, we all said "Kiryu Kazuma" he said
>what? Im suprised the west even know who that is?
Thats one of the top devs in Japan right now saying that.
I'm not very far in the game, but it's pretty good so far and not like anything else I've played before.
Some cons are occasionally too many poorly directed cutscenes that feel twice as long as they need to be, and sections where you'll get showered in annoying tutorials. It's at its best when you're just given some vague objectives and run around doing them, side quests and other activities at your leisure.
