I'm playing P5 right now as my first Persona game and I'm loving it so much that I just bought Persona 3 FES online for the ps2.

That being said, I'd give it just slightly to NieR. I really had an amazing time playing that game, and it is perhaps the best game I've played in years.

I love all three but Automata gets my vote. Zelda is brilliant in a lot of ways but there is a ton of filler content and the lack of decent dungeons hurts. How anyone thinks this is GOTY material is beyond me. It doesn't bring anything new to its genre, and it's a giant step back for its series. It eschews the strength of the series, the level design and overall game design, in favor of a boring, formulaic open world replete with boring and meaningless side quests and Ubisoft towers. Breath of the Wild lacks the sheer scope and grandiose design that Xenoblade X has, it lacks the narrative strength that The Witcher 3 has, and it doesn't come anywhere close to the efficacy of gameplay in Metal Gear Solid V. It doesn't have a single strong point, other than maybe how well-programmed it is for being an open world title. It's not a bad game by any means, but it's not a terribly good one either.

I really want Nier to be, but I can see how flawed it is.
The story is overall enjoyable and stimulating, but too fragmented. The game does a piss poor job of explaining the context from the previous games and other canon media while being falsely touted as standalone. Too many critical plot items aren't properly explained to be justified by artistic ambiguity.

The gameplay is decent, but lacks the typical depth of a Platinum game. Difficulty is all over the place and the open world is rather small.

It's a 8/10 game at the very best, too flawed and too niche to be a serious GOTY contender, especially in generic normie circles.

The characterization in Persona is leaps and bounds ahead of Breath of the Wild, and you hurling meaningless insults at it doesn't change that. Yoshida alone is more interesting and relatable than the entire cast of Breath of the Wild, and he's a fat old Japanese man.

The voice work is comparatively shit only if you were retarded and played Persona 5 in English. To be fair to Breath of the Wild though, I'm sure the Japanese dub for it is likewise far superior to the English. Zelda's story is the same generic shit it's been for the past 30 years. Persona 5's story isn't the best overall (though still perfectly fine), but it definitely has some really well-done arcs.

And the music. Breath of the Wild by no means has a bad OST, but it's hardly present throughout the majority of the game. And bland? Are you fucking kidding?

The Fusion UI was perfected in 4, but for some odd reason they felt compelled to go back to 3's menus. Every menu click is mixed in with this animation that kinda slows everything down.
