It certainly isn't perfect and it does have some bad flaws, but it doesn't deserve a fraction of the hatred it receives. I would even go as far as saying it was the best and most fun Dark Souls game as it had a great atmosphere, was fun to explore and felt adventurous, had a lot of weapons/equipment and tons of build variety, fixed a lot of issues with DaS1 and the DLCs are far better than anything from the first game.

Listen up you fuckers, yes YOU, YOU who still owns a PS2 and would like to play a game on it, YOU who has 10 bucks to spare for a used game.
I present to you the most hidden of fucking Gems, Nano Breaker.
Nano Breaker is an action adventure game by Konami, it's a 6-7 hour game casually, has a lot of high quality cutscenes.
you fight these "orgamechs" combinations of organics and mechs. you can dismember them in many ways (seperate the torso that keeps crawling, slice them down the middle, cut off arms and other limbs)
it feels like a Metal Gear Rising Prototype on PS2.
it also has a bunch of combos that see your weapon transform into otherweapons midcombo.
you pick up combo chips that unlock new combo paths, you get "Boosters" that kinda act like small devil triggers and do different things.
the game has 2 unlockable characters each with their own little quirk, also a hard mode.
the game features a ton of enemy variety and a shitton of bossfights that mostly all feel unique and actually look damn cool and are fun to play.
the only bad thing is some of the platforming, not really the "oh you die in a pit" kind but rather they feel a little clunky and can take longer than they should.
oh also it features a timing based instakill you can see in my Webm, you can also set the "oil" color to whatever you want, red making it extra gory.
this is actually a great fucking game and has very few shortcommings.

I think it's rediculous just how obscure and hidden this gem is, considering it's a Konami game.
