Do you even comprehend how expensive something so frivolous and egocentric as hiring an orchestra for a promotional presentation would cost?

There are dozens of highly skilled, professional musicians that have to practice for months on how to play a number of original compositions (even if they're old within the franchise), and I'm not even mentioning the conductor, the composers/arrangers and all the production that goes both on stage and behind it.
This is not a monkey dancing on stage for peanuts. All the professionals involved are quite expensive and numerous.

Don't get me wrong. It's beautifil to watch and listen to, but on what is indisputably a glorified advertisement presentation, it's quite disturbing when companies push such indulgence.

This, Nintendo dropped out of the presentations because it kept being considered the worst presentation by everyone for years. They will only go back to doing presentations if the Switch is a major success, not as a secondary console, but as the main console of choice for most players. After the Gamecube era Nintendo started to slowly get away from direct competition with Sony and Microsoft, that's what led to the Wii, that's what led to the Directs, they will only go back to trying to direct compete against the others if they are sure that they will have the upper hand, they don't want to get trashed again
