D5 pretty much has no "actual" grind. Raising characters is so quick and easy it's pretty disappointing. I killed LoC Baal, the hardest fight, at around 65h on my casual playthrough of the PS4 version and I think the story took me like 40h or something.
D5 is by far the shortest Disgaea to date and a big part of that is how they made the grind just completely effortless and almost nonexistent, it takes like an hour to completely cap out a freshly made character once you set it up

It's extremely tongue-in-cheek when compared to most other franchises/series. Theremainly you two important mechanics that separate it from other JRPGs, The Senate/Assembly is whereyou vote for character creation and a load of other stuff. The Item World is where you increase the stats of your weapons and make them overpowered as fuck; any item can be brought there and improved upon. And then there's the unique artstyle that is always pleasant to look at.

And to answer OP question: Disgaea 5 Complete is one of the main reasons I'm getting a Switch
