I played through the entire trilogy with no problems like that, there were a couple instances where I needed to use the EE timing and fast texture invalidation hacks but other than that they ran pretty well. I played the PAL versions btw because I'm europoor with shit internet and it was faster to rip the .isos from the disc instead of downloading them, I know there was one problem in 2 that was specific to the PAL version so it might be something like that.
