First three episodes were fucking amazing but ever since Ashi was introduced as a proper character each new episode has been nothing but disappointing, cringy shit.
I watched original show for the first time only a year ago when new season was announced so it's not my nostalgia speaking. The original was objectively much better, the pacing, dialogues, jokes, animation, everything was better with only exception being that new season doesn't have to limit themselves with themes they present, which was the main reason why the first episode was so good, it was a big contrast between all that dark shit going on and a fucking scat singing robot casually saying he killed everyone in a village just so Jack would show up.
After first episode I had very big hopes for new season, second and third episodes were slightly worse but still very good and then they properly introduced Ashi as a character and the episode was quite mediocre, I had hoped that perhaps next episodes will be better but each one turned out to be worse that the previous one.
And one of the worst parts of new season is what they did with the scotsman, they showed him old as fuck, making a potential twist on a returning character (He was willing to fight but couldn't really do anythin due to his age which could be interesting if expanded further) and then they killed him which would be fine if his tale ended here but fucking no, they just killed him so he could return as a ghost being literally the same as he used to be.
Unless last 3 episodes turn out to be amazing, which I highly doubt, the last season will forever be just one big disappointment to me.
