Nobody really says Sigma is outright bad game. People like to pick apart the differences between Sigma and Black, and yeah, general consensus is Sigma comes off as second best, but it's still a great game on its own merits and a decent way to experience NG1.

Sigma 1 is fine. It has some questionable changes and forced Rachel's chapters are really bad idea but it's still good and improved visuals are nice. Sigma 2 is awful though.

Sigmas are the result of somebody way worse at designing games than Itagaki sticking his dick in Itagaki's best games.

Like, one of the first things he did was remove all the gore. That should tell you what's up. He also basically removed shops as a mechanic (only thing you can buy anymore is health items), removed some weapons, etc.

Just google up a list of differences, it's a long one.

No wonder the NG fanbase is beyond cancerous these days. NG3 was horrible and so was 3RE. It's just a succession of poor arena fights with a constant stream of respawning enemies, almost like a dynasty warriors game, till you finally beat everyone and move on to a QTE event set piece or a shitty stealth section. By the end of the first level, the repetitive nature of this kicks in and you have 6 more chapters to beat till you reach the end. It's shit.

I actually agree with you here. I played 3 first not Razors Edge and then played 2 and 2 just feels a bit bland in comparison.

Beaten both Devil's Third, NG3 and NG3RE.

Devil's Third is the best out of the three. The major problem with the game is the technical issues due to lack of polishing budget.

You can actually use environment in NG2. Level design is very important in every encounter.

Not really. There is a far fewer enemies during each battle and they don't constantly respawn, so the fights don't get boring before they are over. Also, sure, there are some arena environments, but very often, fights happen naturally in different environments that aren't arenas like during a platforming section where you jumpon on a pole or run along a wall or take a detour to a different area since NG2 isn't nearly as linear as NG3 is, though it isn't nearly as openended as NG1 is either.

Apparently the GPU it used was very closed down and used a lot of proprietary extensions, so there's no documentation for it. They've barely gotten Barbie's horse adventure to run.
