Are you ready for the latest kickstarter scam, /v/?
they should hire a financial advisor intead of any art directory at all these shitty mmo studios. they cannot comprehend the physical stress the servers will take with non-clippable players, persistant change and unlimited un-instanced player houses. "industry veterans"

>focusing on shitty visuals instead of actual gameplay and non player driven goals
dayz standalone mmo version

Anon is shitposting. The only MMOs he could even name without googling are WoW and SWTOR
Has there been any well-funded Kikestarter game that hasn't been a complete scam yet?

Some of the early KS games were good. Chivalry and FTL come to mind.

Yooka Laylee wasn't a scam, it was just shit.

Divinity: Original Sin 1 and 2
Pillars of Eternity
Banner Saga series

PoE wasn't a complete scam, but censoring a backer's addition was pretty shitty move.

These aspects have existed for years in games like Wurm, Haven and Hearth, and even going all the way back to SWG building towns and cities.
The question is whether or not the devs can tie in long term gameplay with these base elements.

The concept behind Kickstarter is kind of a paradox. A few hundred k or a million to 2 million doesn't even approach the amount needed to fund development of a $20+ product without significant amounts of outside investment (i.e. a publisher). And, if you already have a publisher, there's basically no reason to use Kickstarter in the first place.
The only games that KS can realistically support is small $10-15 games.

Sol Denizen.

We are talking about scams not things that trigger autismal manchildren for no reason.

>And, if you already have a publisher, there's basically no reason to use Kickstarter in the first place.
This is the biggest load of shit i've ever read.
Investors aren't some magical bottomless pit of money, not to mention they also want returns on their investments.
There is absolutely reason to go to Kickstarter even if you have a fuck load of publisher/investor money behind you.
Not to mention a successful kickstarter campaign also helps with securing even more outside investment by being able to literally show there is interest in what you're making.

>literal ponzi scheme, run by a guy who got rich of ponzi schemes, who has hired zero programmers and expects to make a "revolutionary" MMO that is actually incredibly generic in every facet with a total staff of 12 people, each of whom is just an "ideas guy"
they should have sent a poet

>With the abundance of middleware and pre-made engines he thinks you still need programmers to make games
LOL
Go to bed grandpa
>>375911453
>to make good games
