It's the best handheld one. Something about it is just perfect. Somehow Dawn doesn't come as close despite having better hardware and better graphics. I guess we have director Junichi Murakami to thank for it's quality.

It's good, but all of those games have their strengths and weaknesses.

Yeah....
Castlevania:Symphony Of The Night - Toru Hagihara
Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow - Junichi Murakami
Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance - Takashi Takeda
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow - Satoshi Kushibuchi
Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin - Satoshi Kushibuchi
He is a PRODUCER not a DIRECTOR. Its looks like might have been more on the business side of things during his time at Konami.
oh look it's another thread pretending that sotn isn't the best single player video game of all time
>muh challenge
yeah thats why you don't use >muh guides
>>375897784
I agree sotn is a very solid game but it need a legit hard mode.
>>375897885
>but it need a legit hard mode.
? use weaker weapons and armor
>>375897739
>least favorite Igavania was Dawn
>favorite was Portrait
>same director
Wouldn't have guessed that.
>>375897584
It's Metroidvania you fucking idiot
No, because super Castlevania 4 is the best
>>375898097
classic castlevania games aren't even fun and were also-rans in their own time.
Best of the regular Castlevania games is tied between Bloodlines and the original PC Engine version of Rondo of Blood.
For Metroidvania games, it is a tie between Dawn of Sorrow and Order of Ecclesia.
>>375897971
Not even a level one run is hard, unless you limit yourself to the extend the game just becomes tedious. It needs a proper rebalance so you are not a unstoppable killing machine using only your fists, and the enemies are not bullet sponges.
>>375898097
Super IV isn't even the best Classicvania, Rondo is better.
>>375898097
Super Castlevania 4 was a clunky mess with poor controls. Platforming with the whip was a nightmare in that game, the music wasn't very good, and the graphics and level design were mediocre.
CotM will always be my favorite
>>375898183
>Dawn of Sorrow
For real? I heard so many people bitch about that game. Also OoE isn't really a Metroidvania, but it is damn good.
>>375898183
>>375898406
Wow, I'm retarded. I meant to write Aria of Sorrow. You are right. Dawn is good, but nowhere close to the original.
OoE is kind of a hybrid of the two types.
>>375898403
You sure nostalgia isn't blinding you? I love the game, but that has a lot to do with it being my first GBA game. After playing through it again recently, I had to admit it doesn't really hold up like AoS does.
>>375898403
this
>>375898491
>OoE is kind of a hybrid of the two types.
And all the worse off for it, if you ask me. Doesn't do either one well, remarkably weak entry in the series.
>>375898403
>That fucking Aquarius music
Damn that game was gold
>>375897971
If you have to handicap yourself to make a game better, it isn't properly balanced.
>>375897584
That sounds like a disease of the anus.
>>375898403
>Dracula's charge attack does over 700 damage with a hitbox that's half the screen
>If you didn't explore properly you may not even have that much HP
>>375898618
The bosses kinda suck and needing to tap to run is terrible but the map and difficulty are like nearly perfect. Plus there's a hack out there that makes you always run.
>>375901476
He's a pretty shit fight, but at least he's easily cheeseable.
>>375898403
>Awake will never be remixed officially
It hurts just a little
>>375898971
It's my favorite honestly. I just really dig the area you visit, I guess.
>>375896997
no but it's damn good
>>375897739
>google Toru Hagihara because of this post
>found out he did rondo also which is one of, if not the best linear game of the series
>he got promoted during SOTN and iga finished the second half. Probably why the game becomes extremely easy out of nowhere and just takes a massive dive in overall quality on the reverse castle
this man could have made some serious fucking games if he didn't get promoted
>>375898183
sotn is far more breathtaking than those games, I don't think they're even close to SOTN, although they're very very good on their own.
Why was the ending of this game so shit?
You walk in a random room, fight one of the easiest boss in the game and then it end.
When it happened I was like... What the fuck did just happen?
The endind is literally the characters walking away from the castle and saying "We did it!".
>tfw I beat all gba and nds castlevania games
Is there any more games in the series that I should play?
>>375903668
SOTN, no more in that style after that, sadly. Nothing has come out since Portrait of Ruin.
>>375903313
SotN has some noteworthy issues with it, largley balance and difficulty issues. I mean it's a good game, but people are right to give it a bit of shit.
>>375898183
>Bloodlines
>>375903472
Did you get the real ending or fake ending?
>The endind is literally the characters walking away from the castle and saying "We did it!".
ie every singel Castlevania ending ever.
Also aren't they supposed to be in a eclipse?
>>375896997
No.
DoS is much better in all respects.
>>375897739
Producer has a different meaning outside the US.
>>375898183
>OOE
>metroidvania
>>375901476
That was an intense fight.
Remember these?
>that moment where the other dragon feeds on the other's corpse
>>375896997
Can some of the Castlevania Fans explain to me why Lords of Shadow 2 got such horrible reviews? I've never played any of the Castlevania games except SOTN (which was awesome, but as far as I understood it was not a classic Castlevania), but what I've saw in gameplay videos, LOS2 looks pretty good and I see almost no difference to LOS1, actually I find the Setting more interesting than the Spanish goth setting in the first one.

>stand on the floor
>use the card system that makes fire fling around you
>they eat mad shit
It did take me a while to realize that their stomp was the time to start spinning your whip around the block the falling debris, shit falls so fast that it's nearly impossible to dodge.
