So I need to play a game to have an opinion about the appearance of one of the characters. Go be autistic somewhere else you waste of oxygen.

I played the first one remastered and was left a little confused as to why this game was so praised.

The movement mechanics and orb collecting were a lot of fun, and I liked building up my speed throughout the course of the game. But something about the environments and enemies just felt like this bland empty nothingness, the enemies look like placeholder models you'd see in other games before they actually design some real models. They don't have any distinctive features, they're all just the same color/texture arranged in different shapes.

A lot of the missions were just super boring, and the combat was such a chore by the end of the game. Maybe it was because the PS4 remaster removes the expectation of this being a handheld game, but I did not like GR1

I returned to Hekseville in 2 and pretty much lost all interest. It's not bad, but it doesn't really feel like anything they added was enough to make it a drastic difference from the first one. Even the new styles kind of wear out their novelty after a couple of hours.

I'll finish it, but I'm just waiting for the 2B costume at this point since I doubt I'll go back and play it again.

Because they focused on characters and a face value story that felt fantastical for the sake of being stylish. In 2 characters are often just vessels for a garbage story and only shine in side quests.

Also, GR2 inexplicably lost a lot of its identity to be more kid-friendly or something. In 1, you traverse down the inside of a world pillar that looks like a bunch of interconnected spines, hopping from one tooth-like isle to the next. In 2, they replace nevi bone armour with rock matter and the rift planes are something Disney would design. Pretty, but shallow.

I still enjoyed the shit out of 2 though.

Fire up the 19th mission, play it right up until you're locked into Lunar and have to navigate the exploding nevi. Once you reach the end of the breadcrumb trail of gems, save, load the save. You're at the start of the trail.

Shouldn't take you longer than an hour if you've been golding challenges as well.

I hated getting that shit trophy. Mining really needs to give better gem rewards, there's zero reason to do it since best talismans you get from side quests.

It's more of 1 but on a home console with a bigger budget than on a handheld. Bigger, has more features, challenges, powers, etc. The fact you go to Hekseville is kind of a spoiler, though.There are two cities, Jirga Para Lhao is bigger and more detailed than Hekseville.

GR is fun for like 5 hours at most, the first game lasts a bit more than that, but it's ok. The second game lasts much more and the new abilities don't come close to making up for that.

Im so glad I was born

Played the original on Vita back in 2013 and played through GR2 when it came out. Finally picked up Remastered on this Golden Week sale since I was waiting for it to drop low enough to justify replaying it and a couple hours in it feels quaint coming back from 2. Like, I'm still feeling it but man, does it feel regressive (if not nostalgic) going back to gravity kick spam, non-OP stasis and no more Lunar style. Gravity slide is easier to control, though - stiffer but not necessarily in a bad way. What it lacks in weightiness it makes up for with responsiveness. I do like that but beyond that I'm kind of preferring 2. Fuck it though, I like both.

I was actually a bit curious how the sequel is, can anyone elaborate?
I kind of liked the first one, but while flying around is fun, it quickly gets repetitive as fuck. There's very little depth to the combat with lots of powers not really being viable, plus the objectives are some of the most uncreative I've seen in a while.

The big difference between GR1 and GR2 is that the latter feels significantly livelier. There's much more in the way of sidequests and sheer overworld to dick around in, and said world is populated with many more NPCs that are considerably better than the first game. There's online functionalities like challenge leaderboards, scavenger hunts and ghost challenges to keep things a bit lively even after the main game has ended. As far as gameplay, it's been expanded upon but not massively so. The new styles are neat but largely sidelined in combat (though you can use them if you think they're cool), gravity kicks aren't as OP but gravity throws got buffed to insane levels. Otherwise, it's basically more of 1 but slightly better. I like it a lot but I also really liked the first game; your mileage might not vary from how you felt about the first.

Really? Almost everything felt much more sluggish and less polished in 2 for me. I missed a ridiculous amount of gravity kicks by either rubbing against or straight up clipping through nevi cores. Conversely, stasis felt more reliable and responsive (no more holding down a button to gather multiple objects).

2 is basically more of the same. You have more stuff to dick around in like >>375901659 says but it's also a much bigger game and so more time for even those shiny new features to become repetitive if you have a low tolerance for repeating content.

I was saying that the gravity slide in 1 is more responsive than in 2. Stasis is WAY the fuck better in 2, it's not even a competition. That shit is straight broken. Gravity kicks suck in 2 compared to 1 but when stasis is as good as it is it hardly matters. I also think evading is better in 2 personally but that's just me.

That's kinda on the extreme end of the axis. I did a bunch of side shit including falling for the mining meme and platinum'd the game, took me ~55 hours. I think the average completion time with side content is at 30 hours over at howlongtobeat.

Yeah, probably 10-15 hours of my time was treasure hunts. That comprised the bulk of my Dusty coins. I also enjoy my fair share of doing fucking nothing in these games but with a movement system like GR's I don't feel bad about that.

From Raven's DLC, you could speculate that Dusty and Raven's familiar were one mythological beastie that split into two, since Sachya was a normal person with her own life before Xii came along and gave her superpowers and they are linked by sharing the same guardian.

I think Blue Point made some tweaks that made it especially more fun to control, GR2 felt pretty jank.
