My Wii U is the nucleus of my entertainment center.

I use the gamepad as a TV remote, but also for easy access to Netflix, etc. It is also my retro station (thank god for Virtual Console)
Aside from my Wii U I have a PS4+ and that serves my blu-ray+4k needs, but I don't prefer to use it for streaming shows because it runs too hot and the Wii U runs off flash memory for streaming apps. I'm not a huge stickler for 1080p vs 4k unless it's a movie or TV show I highly anticipated.

My PC serves everything else.

I'm pretty done with consoles as a whole to be quite honest after being disappointed severely by the WiiU. I was one of the unfortunate shmucks who bought their "we're catering to the core again" lies.

I intentionally skipped buyin a Wii to avoid supporting their new direction of catering to /ONLY/ casuals/nongamers. I literally didn't expect Nintendo to be so slimey as to make their next console more gimmick shit. I was even excited for the gamepad. When I unboxed it and later realized it was more motion control garb I felt a knot in my stomach because I knew that the industry was done with caring.

I wont be buying a Switch, Unfortunately I'll have to skip Nintendo from now on until they decide to pony up by dropping gimmicky motion controls, dropping the shitty plastic paywall toys, drop the injustifiable paid online, getting real hardware, stop making spinoffs NO ONE cares about, and reattaining 3rd party trust, because initial first year support means nothing.

Are they still making wiiU's? Short life span...could be worth a decent amount in a few years as an obscurity.

i haven't cared about nintendo since the gamecube but if i were still a fan of them i'd be more concerned that their only direct competition is themselves with the 3ds. they've exited the console market.
