How good are you at Fighting Games

Not very.
I used to be reasonable at Capcom VS SNK2 and knew some basic bread and butter combos in Marvel 2 and Third Strike, but my reflexes are slower than they used to be and the muscle memory has faded. I have problems pulling off basic combos without turning the gamespeed down a bit. I'm sure if I practiced a little more I could get back into it, but my Dreamcast died and even if it didn't I don't have too many people to play with anymore.

I could even beat the skullgirls tutorials afters of trying, couldn't do the super move tutorial in KOFXIII, and it took me 2 hours to beat the MK9 tutorial because I didn't understand that you were supposed to do quarter circle movements EXTREMELY FUCKING QUICKLY. I can barely beat these games on easy unless I spam super cheap moves.

I also don't tend to enjoy playing singlular games for very long, and for fighting games, it literally requires hundereds of hours of pattern memorization and command inputs to become "decent", which is something I just can't do.

My fingers don't move quickly, I cant remember the crazy shit, buying a 200$ stick for a single game seems like a fucking stupid idea to me, and worst of all, I fucking despise any sort of fighter that lets you fucking juggle your opponent in mid air in a 50 fucking hit combo without them being able to do ANYTHING about it AT ALL. If a person is even slightly better than me (which they literally all are) I stand no chance what so ever.

I've never even played a single game for over 1000 hours in my life, and only a rare few go into the hundreds over years of time. If I'm expected to play hundreds, if not thousands of hours just to become "ok" at a single fighting game, and throw it all out the window because a new game came out, then I don't see a point. I know some skills carry over, there's there always new shit as well.

My problem is I invest a shitload of time into one version, then a new one comes out and they arbitrarily change moves and frames so you basically have to learn all over again. BlazBlue is the absolutely fucking worst culprit of that.

I got pretty decent at Melty Blood Act Cadenza, but then Actress Again came out and the moon styles made it an entirely new game, so I just accepted I do not have the willpower to keep up with fighting games being more than average.

If they're twitch based, I'm awful. I used to be pretty ok at TF2 though. I love first persons shooters in general though. My favorite genre by far, though I mostly only play the old ones.

I recently beat painkiller on the hard difficulty, one below trauma, but some save scumming was used.

Do people care about LP in SFV? I'm a basic bronze shitter but I've beaten Ultra Bronze people who do nothing but spam wake up DPs, meanwhile I constantly get my shit pushed in by "rookies" who can lock me in a corner with Bison to perfect me for 2 rounds in a row.

I was decent at Street Fighter II back in the day, even placed 5th in the local Blockbuster video tournament.
I did well in the arcades with Tekken 2, Tekken 3, SFA3, and Marvel vs Capcom defeating almost all challengers.

My interest waned after MvC2 since I only played those games for the shitty endings and this game had none. Played a bit of SF4, was alright but not really invested enough to learn about frames and crap anymore.

When you play vega it's easy to fall into gimmicks but I wouldn't call him gimmicky. The problem with vegas I've noticed is they really don't seem to understand their poke/neutral game and they often havent put time into really learning their anti airs so they are extremely gimped. I mained Laura S1 so I know what it's like to play mid to low tier on this game for sure and if you are going to do it you absolutely need to learn the game.

I understand most games I play (and if I don't I can get it if explained to me; took a little while to get the feel of games like Virtua Fighter and Arcana Heart) but can't really execute well. It helps that my favorite kind of character to play is usually the big slow heavy grappler/armor character that has low execution and high damage with the caveat of being read-heavy.

Average, I guess. I can get some lucky rounds on people that are actually good though.

I'm actually pretty decent to good at em, but guilty gear is my best, I think.
I know my go-to characters, their BnBs, and don't drop combos as much as I used to.
Still plenty of room to improve though.

Why can't FGCfags accept that the fighting game genre is broad enough to include a variety of games with different styles of play? Some of these games are better suited for tournament play, some of them aren't, but they're still conceptually the same as a fighting game. You don't see FPSfags going full autist going
