Did you know you can bump your own threads if they're on page 10?

Next time just bump your thread instead of making a new one when the old 404s.
>>
>>375883360
I swear the op can't bump his own thread anymore. That sounds a little strange for it to be on page 10 only
>>
OP, next time you need to start the thread with a shitpost
>>
>>375884032
it's not a shitpost to say morrowinds combat is hot garbage and even fucking oblivion has a better system than it in place
>>
yes
post sexy mods
>>
I'm liking it so far, only put in the MGE X mod i think it is to improve the draw distance because i dont like seeing a fog wall 5 yard infront of my face, other than that im playing it completely vanilla.
Its a little odd seeing my hits connect but hearing the "whiff"ing sound, and healing myself was a bit odd because in the first town i couldnt find an unowned bed or healing potions after getting my shit pushed in by a bandit wizard or whatever.

So far I'm enjoying it though, and plan to play it through
>>
The first time I played it I was a kid so I didn't know about how to properly make a character with good stats so I kept getting raped by Cliff Racers

The game itself isn't that great but the world and the lore behind it would have made for a great movie or television series
>>
>>375883360
no morrowind thread should ever get 404'D with no reply, despite how shitty the OP post may be

...VERY DUMB.

Look at their modern audience.

Halfassed design is all they do now. They need to go full action-melee combat, or go back to Morrowind/Daggerfall and flesh that out instead. FUCKING PICK ONE. Bethesda's half-assed "action RPG" combat in Oblivion and Skyrim was a compromise that wasn't good at what it tried to do.

OP can't bump their own thread unless it's on page 10. Solves the problem of people spamming bumps on their own thread but still allows slow threads to survive by essentially putting a timer on how often you can bump it.

If this failed then the game would be complete and utter garbage, good job, it's just a bad game now

Rolling to see if you hit is a flawed concept
>>
>>375890128
How is it a flawed concept when there are stats in the game to make the odds more favorable?
>>
>>375890005
not him but the implementation of dice rolls when you have active combat in Morrowind simply isn't the best, it feels like the worst of both worlds, you don't need to plan around like some turn based games, and the action real time side, it simply is lacking

That combat looks like what it is, boring trash.
>>
how do people level up in this game? I've been playing a character for about 5 hours and am still level 1. is this normal or am i retarded?

We had fun with sticks and dirt clods back in the day. Morrowind is a 1995 cRPG with 1999 graphics and 10/10 writing in a 2002 game.

>>375890232
>That combat looks like what it is, boring trash.
Implying Oblivion was better, or Skyrim wasn't the worst compared to anything that came out around the same time as it.

Bethesda needs to put 110% into ONE system. All of their stuff has been compromise garbage. If they make "two" games with different focuses like with Redguard/Battlespire then that's for the better.

>He missed on the third strike

0/10 It's okay
>>
>>375883274
Hell yeah I do. I'll actually never forget the time I was introduced to the series through Morrowind. It was way back in 2003/2002, and I had found some game discs in a GPU that my dad purchased while making a PC for his friend(It was a Geforce 3 or 4 series I believe). It had come with a couple games, but the main one it was advertising was Morrowind. I was pretty young at the time, 12 or 13-ish, and while I had played quite a few jrpgs on the snes and ps1 I wasn't very privy to wrpgs or less linear rpgs in general. This didn't stop me from installing this game on my newly-built pc anyway.

Needless to say I was taken aback by the sheer scale of it. The first couple hours I remember being particularly upset, thinking the game was just a hot mess, thinking that any mistakes or deaths I made weren't my fault and that the game was to blame(you know, typical child johning). Typical an experience like this would cause me or most kids to just uninstall and never think of it again but surprisingly those first couple of hours turned into yet another couple of hours, and again to a few hours the next day. I was an idiot who didn't really talk to npcs much and had no idea that I could make it to Balmora by using a Strider in the first town, so I had been journeying to it on foot the entire time, just trying to take in everything I could about the games combat and exploration stuff. I could actually recall the moments when I realized I didn't need to actually head straight to Balmora right away and I visited plenty of places and even helped a few people along the way. Things were finally clicking to me on the 10th or so hour, and I still hadn't found Caius!

>>375890914
I had finally reached Balmora after some time and I felt like I could take anything on at that point. Never would I have imagined that I still had hundreds of hours to experience failure and success. I remember Morrowind being my first game where I really had to make sure to read or listen to what I was told if I wanted to find a specific NPC or item. Time and time again the game would destroy my expectations as each city felt bigger and more confusing than the last.

As you can probably tell by now, Morrowind was a game of many firsts for me. So yeah, I really like it. I still have my original first character save file stored on a backup somewhere(weird, I know, I backup a lot of saves and whatnot like this). A male Nord with insane stats and every expac finished, whos name is an anagram of my own. I traditionally start each Elder Scrolls game by recreating him and using him as my first character.

https://img.fireden.net/v/image/1493/80/1493807207956.jpg

I think the game is really well-designed, interesting and addictive. I like the freedom, the vagueness of the quests, the character customization, the many options you have for augmenting your character's abilities and making up for weaknesses, the economy, and I like the combat.

What I dislike is the level up system. I have athletics as one of my major skills and it's constantly climbing so I end up having to worry about level up optimization even when I don't want to.
>>
>>375893797
That's a pretty fucking solid character for a first build. I wouldn't have made athletics a class skill though, for exactly that reason. It won't really end up being such a big deal though.

>The goblin-bashing, mage-mashing realm of role-playing may not be everybody's cup of tea, but Morrowind could change that.
Yeah as much as I love Morrowind, I wish it hadn't changed that. Fucking normies.
>>
>>375895458
If it's a mod, it's just the basic code patch. That fixes a ton of small things like that so maybe? I'm not sure. You might be retarded. I'm not saying you are, but I can't say you aren't, either.
>>
>>375895458
>>375895591
It's an option in the code patch.
>>
to advance in factions, do you have to have the skill requirements in their favored skill, or any skill?
>>
>>375895591
I downloaded the fixes as suggested in a thread a few days ago.
>>
>>375895637
It needs to be any two of their favored skills. For example, in the Thieves Guild you might get by as a traditional thief using the Security and Sneak skills, but a typical archer could also qualify by virtue of Marksman and Light Armor.
>>
Morrowind
>walk everywhere
>MISSMISSMISS
>steamroll everything once you find some good gear
Oblivion
>fast travel back and forth between two points as many as five times in a quest
>STAGGEREDSTAGGEREDSTAGGERED
>every single level up is meaningless if you focus combat skills or makes the game impossible if you focus noncombat skills
Skyrim
>radiant MMO tier fetch "quests"
>basically immortal
>dragon attack every 5 minutes

I honesty love the games but they're unplayable without mods and you can't compare the modded experiences because yours will always be worse than my patrician set.
>>
if i fucked up choosing a minor skill is there any way to change it with console.

i just want to switch athletics and enchanting
>>
I would be. It takes me back.

But it keeps crashing when I go to close it. And it fucks with my resolution. Using MGO cause, yes.
>>
>>375897302
Did you install the game properly or did you download some dodgy "extract and play" version? The game stores settings such as display resolution in the registry, and in my experience that registry entry doesn't get created unless you install the game.

It's cherry picking. I too, can find a cave in Morrowind that has simpler layout then a cherrypicked interior cell from later games with a more complex layout. But Morrowind fags gonna sperg out and pull anything out of their asses to protect their favorite game, even shitty memes that anyone that's played all the games for longer then half an hour would see through right away.

>>
>>375900751
>Get to the end of a morrowind dungeon
Well, damn, time to find my way out of here.

>Get to the loop around in a Skyrim dungeon
stacking boxes and shit to climb to the end of the and just kill the dungeon "boss".
>>
>>375900790
Actually they are, both games use prefabs. The prefabs for Morrowind are more detailed though.
>>
>>375900790
Depends on the dungeon. Obviously the dwemer ruins are large and unique, but there's not a lot of them and the much more common kwama mines are all pretty similar, with the only real distinctions being whether they're flooded, diseased, or both. Ancestral tombs vary wildly in size and complexity but the smaller ones are all pretty much the same. Most Daedric shrines have the same layout although the stuff in them is usually hand-placed and unique.

All TES games have plenty of copy-paste design and Morrowind is no exception to that rule. Oblivion just *feels* the most copy-pasted of them all since the dungeons have the fewest unique elements to them, but in terms of layout it's not much worse than Morrowind, with the literally identical oblivion gates pushing it over the edge. Skyrim's dungeons are interestingly the most unique out of all TES games, with almost all of them having some story or quest behind them. But their linearity and the fact that the game sends you to dungeons on random quests far more frequently than either Morrowind or Oblivion makes it feel even worse.
>>
>>375885310
I'd rather have to spec some points into endurance and agility in mw to hit things than having to throw 748 hits at a random encounter in oblivion. Level scaling destroys the whole experience. If this shit wouldnt exist, oblivion would be my fav TES game.
>>
>>375891434
cause i have shit taste
>>
>>375901089
MW also has old dunmer forts.
>>
>>375901308
>>375901089
And grottos, rogue telvanni towers, three varieties of NPC caves (smugglers, slavers, and sorcerers/daedra), and shipwrecks.

It's got quite the variety of dungeon types, but admittedly within those types there is a lot of re-used rooms and clutter.
