imho MGSV should not have been considered as a numbered entry in the series. more like Peace Walker "part II" or however you'd like. it was a good play but the grinding/farming and required online stuff is a downright shame (to say nothing of the real-money requirements for high-level soldiers and gear)

But a lot of people were expecting something legendary.

add some interior levels, some actual boss fights, and replace the story with literally anything and it would be 10/10

D walker takes time and money to fully upgrade but he can just about do it all when you do.

He's faster than d horse, can scan and fulton better than DD, and can auto attack enemies like quiet. He has flamethrower, and electric discharge gun, and a fulton cannon that can fulton large size objects. He combines all the best from other buddies. when you learn to control him by using the aim button and navigation mode on the idroid, he's beast.

If they called it: "Metal Gear Solidus" and instead of being building outer heaven it was building Solidus' unit/being a patriot agent, even keeping the Sahelanthropus plot, probably would have saved it.

Still, some of the most fun I've had in gaming was playing this with no weapons, no items except the cardboard box, and no buddies, while being a little drunk.

And yes, I'm aware that's making excuses for it.

It's really fun, well optimized, has good graphics, good music, and great gameplay mechanics. Unfortunately the story is largely unfinished and the game ends with a terrible plot twist.

Rating any MGS game after Snake Eater is a fool's errand.

Every game since MGS4 has been nothing but disappointment, in terms of their characters and storytelling.

There may be flashes of brilliance here and there, but they mostly come off as hackneyed, obvious, contrived, uninspired, and boring.

Kojima was right to be let go after TPP. The series should be laid to rest.
