It took me all the way until the end boss to realize I could fast forward text by hitting the cancel button. It was my biggest complaint until then.

There are a small amount of them mainly defending an actual character on the field but if you kill the big enemies and use them as defense they can take out pretty much anything in your way.
The game has more gimmick battles like playing as a cyclops to clear out hordes of enemies or escaping the city from monsters you can't damage.
