I'm not sure if there is a designer in the west capable of making better 3D models than a budget musou company.

And yet the reality is that corporations only hire people with college degrees. These are people without real talent nor real passion and acquired all their skills from textbooks.

If you see the kind of work that comes from these broke dudes in Europe, too poor to afford a school just making things because they enjoy doing it vs what some salaried chucklefuck with a diploma can make, it'll blow your mind. Pretty sure that's why CDPR was able to make such an amazing product since they hire based on talent rather than schooling.

Why though? In movies and tv shows they hire attractive actors and give them good lighting and splatter them with makeup to make them look more attractive. In cartoons they make them look attractive. Why is it western video game devs are the ones who make ugly characters when it's scientifically proven that attractive people sell products better, people find their humor to be more humorous, and see them in a more positive light?

The even more baffling thing is, they take actors who are attractive and then make them uglier.
