The idea was that you'd mimic the FF jobs yourself by equipping the skills needed. 'Classes' in 1.0 were just sets of skills that you could then equip however you wanted with any other weapon. So if you wanted to play a RDM, you'd equip a sword and crossclass THM and CNJ abilities.

Originally, yes. There were only classes, and they wanted you to be able to crossclass any skills with any weapon however you wanted. You also had a Physical level separate from classes that you distributed your core attributes with. So STR, DEX, etc were independent from whatever class you were at the time.
The jobs were implemented closer to the end of 1.X, and were intended for use in parties while you were supposed to still use base classes while playing solo for more versatility.

There is no point. In 1.0, each core stat effected several different things, and the weapon damage of each class depended on two different core stats. PGL/MNK used to use both STR and DEX to determine damage.

If you wanna play Solo and enjoy the story play Lamia, but for the love of god do not try to do raid content on it every static is full of man children. Was in a group that cleared a12s relatively early after unlock but holy shit literally everything was fought over. Thought it was just my group have been in 6 statics since and every single one on Lamia has just been a shit show of people trying to power wank on the others. When I finally got my tank BiS done I left and have never joined another static fuck that. They would even argue over established loot order every clear. Jesus my time in statics was like a fucking fever dream.

Also they're all thirsty as fuck so if you are a girl avoid Lamia even more first 3 statics it was me and the same tank who happened to be a girl and we rarely used our mics for actual talking, I just did call outs. All first three groups were torn to shreds because the soulless virgins had to have a dick measuring contest all the time over everything as soon as they found out she was female.

Every FC I've been in since 2.1 has had drama, people quitting due to life situations, and people who decided they'd rather spend their time in an RP FC rather than a casual/mid-core content one. I always end up alone with the keys to the house and everything in it and I just get sad. I kept the FC house this time because it's in a nice spot but if someone offered me enough gil I'd probably accept the deal, transfer the ownership to them, and live the rest of my days as a nomad. Dark Dance should be up nearly all the time.

Cooldowns when necessary, so during moments of spike damage/tankbusters, lighter cooldowns for general mitagation to keep the healers job easier.

Awareness is good especially after a TB if you don't have much else, since crits fucking hurt.

Shadowskin is on a fairly short 90s cd, so it can be up every other pull if your dps are decent. As you play more as a tank you'll get better at estimating how much damage shit will do and if you need CDs. Tanking dungeons isn't exactly demanding, but it helps if you know how pulls are done and can plan around usage of CDs and their timers.
In general:
>one pull, can be fine with 0 CDs
>two pulls, can be fine with 0 CDs if you outgear, otherwise better pop those CDs
>three +, better use your shit

DRK also gets some very good health regen on it's own with Dark Arts + Abyssal Drain spam while blood price is active on a large mob.
