why did city builders die?
No action. Same mundane shit over and over.

>same mundane shit over and over
and yet that is the reason people play popular games such as league of legends, hearthstone, overwatch etc.
Very harsh transition to 3D
Still, they're still going strong, Cities Skylines sold like crazy. It's that city builders are being giant fuckups, like nu Sim City and the Cities XL clusterfuck, and Tropico being re-released every year or so
Well, Sim City died because EA are fucking retarded and don't know how to just release a fucking game without every single god damn modern unloved much-hated gimmick being crammed into it.
Is that any good? I've had it on my wishlist for awhile
Kingdoms and Castles isn't half bad. It's nowhere near the level of something like the Caesar series but it's a decent casual little game. That's about as much as you can hope for given how dead city builders are.
way too video gamey. you have to like create zones and a bunch of complicated stuff, then you gotta do super nerdy shit like traffic management, and then building infrastructure. then the people have needs and stuff this shit is just way too video gamey! where's the cinematic experience and instant gratification cutscenes of explosions?? lol only nerds play this shit

What game and is it worth the cost?
at the height of its popularity the niche market turned towards the mobile gaming market. however it's not that bad..
there are some new games that came out this year(urban empire, northgard, etc) and the guild 3 is coming out this year hopefully.
