They're okay. Most of them are a consequence of filling roles or positions which simply can't have the same depth as the original factions.
They're in general much worse of course. Especially the ayyliums.

But there are still some nice things to them. I like the concept of the alien usurpers risking it all for divinity.

And although some of the original quotes are the best, the paraphrased version of Jim Jones at Botany Bay is my all time favorite reading of that ballad. And I've heard quite a few as a strayan.

It's not that Loghain didn't believe in his tactics, it's that the king wasn't stuck in the past and was open to allying with Orlais. Loghain fought them for years, so to him this was essentially treason.

Loghain is an absolute cunt for abandoning the field of battle and letting so many men die just to see the king dead though. If he had the balls he'd have murdered Cailan and not cost Ferelden a significant portion of its fighting forces in the face of an actual invasion of monsters.
