2 was great and all but it was heavily flawed and a big step down from Black. Focusing on larger mobs of weak enemies over the smaller groups of stronger ones fucked the combat flow dramatically. Is a more reasonable complaint, but you really should have tried Way of the Strong. It has remixed enemy placements that were significantly harder/more fun. Way of the Demon is Way of the Strong but with even higher stats and occasional "Black Phantom" enemies similar to DeS/DaS2 which drop divine loot.

Most levels can be sprinted through without much in the way of consequences. So it all depends on how good you are at that if you really want to save time.

If you aren't about rushing through at quite that kind of pace, then we can't know how long you might take or not.

The gameplay was really good, but the story was really dumb. Characters get introduced, then immediately forgotten, with stupid monologues whenever you get a new spirit animal. The combat feels really good, and I liked fighting humans more than the yokai. I do want a sequel though.

The revolving door of characters are all famed individuals that are taught about in schools in Japan. Remove your western sensibilities for a second and consider the following:

Nioh takes place during the final era of great internal conflict Japan ever faced. The political amd military leaders who played a part in this final era of strife and famous and storied. They're basically the "founding fathers" of Japan.

So when they show up and you just get a big monologue and a artful cutscene about their life and motivations, it's supposed to be interesting, not confusing. Even I know who Oda Nobunaga is, his watercolor cutscene was fucking exquisite.

PVP was never going to work thanks to the Diablo loot cancer. Its an unfun, unbalanced mess. Majority of the fights end within 5 seconds but it takes between 2-5 minutes to find a match between all the loading screens and finding opponents. Nioh PVP is just not fun.

Well I haven't played DeS but BB easily has the least amount of different weapons and armor out of any of hte DaS1-3 and Nioh. They are various in that the trick weapons are unique, but there aren't many of them.

Which PS4 owner who likes this japanese title would be starving for japanese games in Q1 of 2017, the single best quarter of video games of the past decade if not more?

NioH sold over 1 million despite of being so close to other great releases, not because it released in the middle of a drought. Hell even within "Souls-likes" there hasn't been a drought, Let It Die came out in December and DaS3's DLC came out recently. NioH was sandwiched between all kinds of releases for all kinds of tastes.

I'm not going to comment on your quality judgement of the game, just that it would be impossible to be hurting for exclusives/games as a PS4 owner regardless of tastes around NioH's release.
