Most people recommend Ornstein. Super Smough has more hp than Super Ornstein but most find his moveset easier to deal with. If you have to do phase 1 solo killing Ornstein is also much easier than Smough.

Lorewise you should kill Ornstein first, because he is most likely an illusion.

ornstein if you want that big fucking hammer, fatty first if you want the the dexfag supreme's kitty ring (leo ring). I think Super Ornstein is harder to deal with than Super Smough. Super Smough is easy to get into a attack loop in which you can punish him. Also he gives you more time to heal if you need to.
