After playing through the first three games and getting to Black Flag, it was pretty unnerving to find that video of Abstergo casually removing Desmond's brain for study.
On the other hand I liked that no matter how much of a hero we think we may be, in the end what's left is just part of another, sometimes bigger, story.

The story is precisely why you shouldn't. It's fucking bad. Assassins deliberately shown as retarded ass clowns, Templars deliberately shown as good uncles.

This is supposed to be a series with 2 philosophy clashing at each other, with a grey middleground. It's actually supposed to make you think a little. I'm not saying it does, but it's the purpose.

On Achilles orders, Shay was responsible for the death and injury to hundreds of people. Innocent people at that, which his creed he had followed his whole life and believed in unwaveringly had demanded he not do any harm on them. Not only that, but then after he reports what happened, Achilles being the fucking moron he is tries to do it again. Shay did literally nothing wrong, and in his betrayal and theft of the relic he saved hundreds more lives that the Assassins would have killed in the selfish pursuit of power. Don't get me wrong, the Assassins in other eras were fine and dandy, but that certain time span they went full retard. Hell even Haythem refutes everything Connor says when they speak, showing that Achillies passed on his stupidity to Connor.

You have to keep in mind though that one of the principles was to "obey your mentor at all times" meaning literally every other person, chapter or faction of Assassins would have sides with Achilles over Shay. And considering the idiot was a mere amount of time away from recreating the disaster that took hundreds of lives, Shay had to act against everyone to ensure it didn't happen again.

not to mention he had just killed a bunch of innocents and was more than likely guilt ridden and hysterical
