ITT: lowkey 10/10 games
>Weak rehash of the first game
>10/10
Nope.
This is better than LOG2
I'll never stop bringing up this unknown gem.
Fuck the salty nostalgiafags, it's a worthy sequel!
>>375842829
I like it too. My brother got it for me after the major patches and I really dug it.
However
If DK2 is a 10/10, then War for the Overworld is an 8/10
legend of grimrock 2 is my goty of the year it came out, was it 2015? God damn what a good game, probably about that time to replay.
>>375842463
>shilling your shitty ipad game in every LoG/dungeon master thread
every fucking time
>>375843118
Likewise.
I really hope they're working on Grimrock 2.
>>375843029
>War for the Overworld is an 8/10
It's still a game that deserves more love.
>>375842260
>tfw it really is that good
fucking great. thing is i fucking hate that one of my characters is a firearms main and firearms hasn't impressed me one bit.
also i have a feeling enemies are respawning? am i wrong?
>>375843150
I love LOG1, but LOG2 is just a bad sequel
There's a reason it flopped, and the devs are doing some awful looking RPG now instead of Grimrock 3
>>375843189
Anon.
>>375843598
LoG2 does everything LoG1 did, but better.
It's the perfect example of a good sequel.
>>375843598
>>375844080
Literally this, what the fuck are you talking about?
In what way was 2 bad?
>>375844080
I expect rehashing from yearly rereleases like Call of Duty or Tony Hawk
I don't expect it from an indie game that I liked
>>375844347
Taking the same gameplay systems and putting them in a completely new world of content is not what "rehashing" means.
>>375844347
Are you for real.
>LoG 2
>Rehashing
>Entirely new areas
>Entirely new enemies
>Entirely new items
>Entirely new spells
The list goes fucking on, if you're talking about core game mechanics being rehashed then you seriously need a head check.
>>375844240
>"It's open world now!"
The "open world" is just an extended dungeon
>"B-but it's got new classes!"
Except it still plays the same - movements are still locked to a grid and there's nothing crazy like 6 or 8 characters.
>>375842829
It was LITERALLY unplayable at release. Two years of patching have made it preeetty good though. Too bad the multiplayer is dead as fuck and they've since removed all of the difficulty from the single-player.
Waiting on the next patch where they'll be improving the map editor and finally making itnot shit.
>>375843357
The main areas will always have a few enemies wandering around. It's to give exceptionally slow players an infinite source of food.
>>375844519
It's open world in that you can go to a number of locations to begin, you aren't stuck going from point A to point B. Nobody said it was open world because you're outdoors now you flaming retard.
New classes means new abilities, the movement system has no impact upon classes and builds whatsoever.
It's increasingly evident you have no fucking idea what you're talking about.
>>375844613
ahh ok that makes sense. as long as the dungeon areas don't have respawning enemies that's fine
the enemies in log2 are pretty crazy from what i've played so far.
>those fucking mosquitoes
>the frogs
god damn
>>375844519
are you sad that it's not an actual 'open world'? it's more open world than log 1, kind of like riven you can choose which direction you want to go whereas in 1 you are told to always go further down. are you sad you didn't get a ubisoft open world or what?
>>375844613
>It was LITERALLY unplayable at release.
Huh, I got it late and it was stable by then.
>they've since removed all of the difficulty from the single-player.
Timed challenges are not my idea of fun difficulty.
>>375844713
Don't get mad at me just because you like "more of the same" trash
>>375844849
It needed NPCs. It needed something more, considering how hard the player worked to escape the dungeon in LOG1, which had no NPCs because of the conceit of being trapped in a dungeon, which was acceptable.
The Quest is my Grimrock 2, because it's open world, features characters, dungeons, etc.
>>375844613
I should really get to finishing the multiplayer.

LoG 2 gave me a hard-on for games that let you input your own custom portraits.
Also, it was a pretty fucken good game. Had a great charm with a mix of unsettling and yet comfy qualities.
I want LoG3.

Apologies if I hurt your feelings senpai, but whether or not 3 ever comes out isn't really a concern. It's good, but by no means my favourite game.
>>375843357
The only real flaw in grimrock 2 is the terrible class balancing. The ideal party is 2 2-hand minotaur berserkers, one rat alchemist that uses magic, and one special snowflake character of your choice. Your fourth character has a few more options but 2-hand minotaur berserker is still very viable though you can go dual-wield minotaur berserker if you want.
Plus there is no point to water or earth magic at all.
>>375844519

>>375842260
No.
>>375846835
For the longest while I did solo ratling farmer runs.
A level 20 ratling is nothing to sneeze at, considering all stat potions, skill books, and equipment all go to them, it turns a rather dull experience into a murder fiesta. I generally like specing into full light weapons, critical, and alchemy, with at least two points in concentration, with the rest going into either armor or accruracy. Dual-wielding critical backstabs are insane, with only crits from the scythe's charged attack being higher if unwieldly due to the energy cost.
>>375846835
There will always be a meta/ideal build, that doesn't make other combinations worthless.
I played my first game on Hard with a Battlemage/Barbarian/Alchemist/Wizard and nothing really gave me a lot of troubles apart from the final boss that took a few tries and some skill.

CotDS's NPCs were a mistake.
A 10/10 mix between X-Com, Darkest Dungeon, The Black Company universe and Mount and Blade.
Seeing that the game was released very recently this year and has decent production value, it's baffling how under the radar it went. Everyone who like at least one the game I mentionned should at least pirate it to give it a try.

Because it has no direction, surprisingly limited tactics, and its unfairly difficult pretty quickly. Its good if you are into really punishing games you have to spend dozens of hours dissecting, but that doesn't apply to 99.99% of gamers.
rest in peace
Runs like absolute shit AND looks lile absolute shit on low settings. I dont understand what they did to the game to make it require a supercomputer to run properly. Couldnt play it.
>>375852767
>Because it has no direction
How so ? Like, no clear objective ? Because I know that I always had something to do between trading, finding or completing quests, clearing a lair... And the overall objective seems to clearly have as much renown as possible/survive, but I reckon that can be a little too "sandboxy" for some people.
>surprisingly limited tactics
Granted you will usually apply the same kind of tactics but depending on your enemy or the layout of the map you will always have to adapt them or die. Anf that's without mentioning an untimely death or panicking brother.
>unfairly difficult pretty quickly
That's kinda of true, I remember only being able to kill Hoggart one in two times in my first games, but that goes with what the devs had in mind, you can't win every fight and that's especially true for a fresh company. And i quickly teaches you that you have to pick your fights wisely.
>>375853530
Lol you retarded faggot. In no world, not even after all the patches, could this fucking mess of a wow clone ever be considered 10/10. not even close. The open map approach results in a whole bunch of small areas and simplistic puzzles, as opposed to the first game having a series of large floors with long puzzles that sometimes spanned several floors. There were also some puzzles in 2 that had absolutely retarded counter-intuitive solutions, like opening the pyramid by shooting it with the snake staff, instead of putting the staff into the slot right next to the door (and the staff is also found in a completely irrelevant and arbitrary location). That's my biggest gripe with 2 in terms of design. A more minor gripe is that the final boss in 2 was absolute garbage compared to 1, which was a good mix of hectic combat and puzzle. 2's final boss is just a super easy battle, and the true final boss is a clusterfuck that is most easy to deal with by just facetanking its attacks and hitting it back as hard as possible.
>>375861457
the open map design is much better than a linear dungeon especially if you get stuck on a puzzle you can go do something else and come back to it later
the pyramid is basically an optional area I didn't even go there on my first play through and it's not too hard to figure out the serpent staff is required to open it
grimrock 2 is an improvement over everything in grimrock 1
http://store.steampowered.com/app/409450/The_Fall_of_the_Dungeon_Guardians/
never heard this game mentioned here before but if you enjoyed grimrock games then this is great
>>375862518
The pyramid is mandatory to getting the true ending, and that has nothing to do with the method of opening it being completely unintuitive as I already stated. And your first point is retarded, because it's not like the puzzle would have changed. The one place that "come back later" would benefit you is in enemy difficulty, but since they balanced the game around going everywhere at once, every area is equally hard at the start and equally easy at the end, so they fucked that up.
>>375842260

funnily enough there are 2 steve jacksons

and the british one who co-founded fighting fantasy, wrote Sorcery!, co-founded Games Workshop and co-founded Lionhead Studios
also, the US Steve Jackson wrote 3 FF books, but is just credited as Steve Jackson, so there's no way of telling it wasn't the other Steve Jackson

I miss it so much
>>375868261
Might & Magic X is pretty good.
>>375868631
That's confusing but I think I understand.
>>375868590
Because those are purely subjective opinions. I liked the puzzles more because it required expanding my outlook of the game because the game world was much bigger and puzzles could stretch from one zone to the next. The final boss of 1, which I liked, mind you, was hated by almost everybody and considered as the worst part of the game and a shitty way to end an otherwise great game.
2's bosses, of which there were more than one, were a little more straight forward but still pretty hectic and required strategy rather than just running for your life and occasionally shooting the weak spot. The skeleton boss and true final boss were good shit. I also particularly liked the mushroom boss.
I'll toss in a rec for Underrail since I wound up getting it in a Greenlight bundle several years ago while it was still very new, but didn't end up playing it till fairly recently.
It's surprisingly good.
>>375859542
Mah nigga.
Ranged shit is op though.
>>375868590
The final boss being worse is completely subjective. I personally liked it a whole lot better.
The puzzles being worse is something I disagree with overall. I agree that the serpent staff was unintuitive and finding it in the bog needed a note or it could have been in the place of the stormseed orb for example. But the puzzles aren't the simplistic affair you describe them to be, and LoG had its share of localized secrets.
>>375869227
I'll add to that guy- it's VERY good if very noticeably made by a small slav team, and It's on the bundle for 5 bucks rick now, DRM free. Some of its design decisions are loudly decried by many but they are part of its character.
The lore is also very good because of the way it is told.

>>375870146
Injurys are the one big black mark in game in my opinion. Especially if you get stuck somewhere without any way to heal or are still early in the game with heal crystals as your only saving grace. There are just way too many creatures that can randomly cause leg damage which then can snowball out of control. Honestly the best option is to not get hit at all, which just makes armor impractical at best.
>>375870598
Haven't played since release but didn't health potions heal limbs?
>>375870714
Yeah, just that early on if you aren't careful or just unlucky wargs and gunner ratmen can ruin your day. Plus if it's your first time playing you might not know about injuries and never take the time to just go back to a crystal to heal and use up all healing potions.
That... happened to me. I've gotten a hell of a lot better, don't get me wrong it's just you need to be careful or you could run out easily.

it's a tragedy that none of you will know this game.
>>375872436
Aren't they in the game files?
>>375872601
>Log II is 1034mb
>less than a minute to dl

>only Log 1 portraits in ig resolution

>>375872601

Strange bait
>>375873009
Maybe it's possible to contact the artist. Je parle français, so that might help.
>>375843189
This game taught me so much about the Roman Empire.

>5D kino
Serious question: I never played any of the LoG, should I go for the first or sequel?
>>375874379
2 is better in every way but 1 is great too and it'll help you appreciate the improves of 2 more. So play 1 first.
>>375874379
Assuming you only intend to play one of them, the second one. It's an improvement over the first in every way. Otherwise start with the first and play both.
>>375873961
Can confirm
>>375874379
Yes. It's not like they're expensive games.
>>375870598
>Also the Expansion is shaping up to be rather hefty.
JET SKIS, SHOTGUNS AND SPEARS!
>>375875654
>can use two handed weapons like assault rifles and crossbows on jet skis
>but not sledgehammers or snipers
Once again, heavy melee gets the shaft.
>>375846092
I saw this in someGAMEstore not too long ago, I thought it was some weird Total War port for some reason so I didn't bother checking it out.
>>375869227
Underrail has one of the best casual filters in recent memory.
>>375843189
Shadow of Rome 2 FUCKING WHEN CAPCOM FUCK YOU
>>375876778
>final area in the game
>casual filter
???
>>375877820
Just because it's at the end doesn't mean it's not going to skim the shit out of the playerbase.
>>375846360
Shit. I haven't thought of that game in years.
It was so basic. And so damned amazing.
>>375878043
given the general lack of flexibility with builds if you're not familiar with the game i doubt anyone who would be filtered out by that would make it that far
i figure they wouldnt make it past junkyard or the ending of the tchortist questline
>>375878334
Yeah, Depot A is the real casual filter.
>>375850274
Why the hell you have hamster in your party?
>>375865185
yes awesome game but i feel it sorta lost steam towards the end
>>375865185
>>375879145
I still have shivers just by remembering Village with children. This fucking atmosphere was amazing, and the music there.
Sadly that was the best part of the game.
>>375864349
Agreed. It holds up surprisingly well.
Currently in the middle of a play through. Just got to Valance in the mines.
>>375863632
What do you fight for?
>>375878912
BC they good
>>375851471
Fun game, but lacking in content.
