It really bothers me that we can't play over what I would assume is a peer to peer connection, but the game lets you watch uploaded videos for free. The video uploads probably cost Sony more money, but we can get them for free simply because it is something people would not be willing to pay for. This should be evidence that everything could be free if people would just stop paying for it.

I played the japanese wiiu version of this a few days ago with someone. I'm great at tetris, he's great at puyo, we both kinda suck at the other. What I learned:

If you play straight tetris vs puyo, tetris players win. It's just way easier to deal with garbage from below and get it cleared out in seconds than it is to deal with puyo pieces falling and fucking up your combo because you have to clear blocks first, so he always lost.

If you play the switch mode that has both tetris and puyo flopping back and forth for everyone: Tetris players still win, as long as the tetris player is at least good enough at matching colors to keep the puyo side as down as possible until their tetris skills overcome the competition.

If you play the mixed mode where both tetris and puyo are in the same play field: Puyo player wins by a fucking landslide. It drops 6 puyo pieces followed by 3 tetris pieces and keeps doing that forever, so puyo skill matters a shitton more. Also, the tetris pieces falling breaks the puyo trash on the top, so it just makes it that much easier.
