It's not sure-fire because sometimes people just watch instead of buying, but indie horror as a genre wouldn't be anywhere near as big if they didn't occasionally make obscene amounts of money thanks to ecelebs. Five Nights is a good example of this, and normies wouldn't have given a shit about Amnesia if it weren't for youtube either
