HM slavery brought to its absolute apex. You basically need to just write off three Pokemon slots with HM slaves in order to get up the mountain then run through that gauntlet of trainer fuckery and main villains with three mons and your HM slaves, four mons if you managed the slaves well and picked the right ones I think I remember every HM you need to get up to the top can be laid onto a Bibarel and something else. Like God damn what a way to make your epic final battle completely anti-climactic by forcing the player to just helve half their beloved team back at the Pokemon center in order to drag two or three dead weight fucker Pokemon up the mountain instead you only caught to deal with Gamefreak's retarded HM shit that should have died two gens before.

I loved Gen 4.
I loved the DS era. It was just a pleaseant console to look at and own, especially with the Lite model.
Plus the absolute golden age of flash cards and pokemon hacking. Own every game with a single cartridge+micro sd card, run pokemons through pokecheck and add more simply by inputing their .pkm file, making your own shinies. I miss those days so much.

Granted, you can hack a 3ds with relative ease to get all the games, but there was no worries, no account system to get banned, no shit online bullshit, no guides to follow to be able to get it to work. Just one cartridge to replace them all.

I couldn't get past them at first, but I suffered through B&W 1 (played White) to have its save file added to White 2. I thought that it added almost another dimension to the experience.

I figured you'd meet your first game protagonist who'd be a superstar champion, instead you get this almost-mystery because the first game's protagonist is flat-out missing. You had that phone thing and you'd think that multiple people would try calling, but there's no answer. It's scary to think that while everyone passes it off as "oh, she's just a big-time champion and is simply too busy to answer my calls" she's either been kidnapped or killed tragically. Even first-game's mom, you go to her house on the other side of the map and she says how she can't contact her child and she must just be busy. Then she says "being a parent is hard sometimes" ;_:

AND, you go to the other side of the map to B&W1's house thinking that it's more starter pokemon, but it's not. All the pokemon are (I can't remember) lvl 50.
There's a kid in that town who says that they can't wait until next year when they can finally leave town and become a pokemon trainer.
I just wanted to get on one knee and tell him "kid, by the time you become a trainer and leave this town, all the pokemon are going to be level 70 and know hyper beam."

But I digress. All the overall content with B&W2 with 1's save file is the most complete pokemon experience I've ever had.
To go from that to the absolutely barebones nature of x&y was a major disappointment.
