Dispels are just one form of removal (and also one that turns every creature into a vanilla, fun fun)

I mean don't you think it's a bit telling that you can have a six mana minion that can swing for half their max health in a faction that also has insane attack buffs that ALSO drops you six 1/1s when he dies AND can be boosted out on like turn 2 and he was never nearly overpowered just because removal is so fucking retarded? I think it's much more fun when a big guy dropping means you have to play around him for a while instead of it being basically a binary win/lose depending on if you have answers. I mean there are some truly fucking insane 8 drops in the recent expansions but I'd guess they're barely played if they're not instant value.

All the popular ones do away with the "pass priority?" prompts in favor of simply letting you take no actions at all on your opponents turn. This greatly helps the gameflow, but the cost is often something like that. Anything with "Charge" or that otherwise affects the gamestate the moment you play it is always better than something that doesn't. If instant speed counterspell existed, these fast cards wouldn't have this inherent advantage over slow cards.

I don't even think it's the fault of the instant speed effects but rather that there is basically zero defenders advantage so you can't chump block some 10/10 monster and have to let him slam you in the face or pick from your minions freely, which rapidly rolls out of control

in magic for example the blocker chooses all the combats, and can gang up on big minions with small minions, which is fair because attacking is proactive and actually results in winning the game

or in duel masters you can only attack tapped creatures, and attacking face gives your opponent card advantage and possible free cards

also duelyst is just retardedly swingy to begin with, nothing lives for more than one turn on average, so any big card will be even more swingier due to the large cost necessitating a large effect
