If I ever saw that in a game I'd immediately uninstall.

I'll never understand lazy internet memes/references like this
I wouldn't want to see 4chan references - but Redditors eat these references up

lolcats are the most 4chan thing after anime.
It makes me really sad that some dev or translator out there associates them with reddit.

Honestly, what were you expecting? I mean it, Quest for Infamy, and Heroine's Quest, are both based on the Quest for Glory series. A fantasy setting for an adventure/RPG hybrid in which aspects of Fantasy, history and reality have melded, causing situations like a gnome magic store owner spewing real life TV quotes.
If you bought Quest for Infamy expecting ANYTHING else, you have no one to blame but yourself. These games were recreating a very, very particular sort of series. We're talking about a series that had a, "Silly Clowns" setting, that would cause random crazy nonsense to happen as you play, often having nothing to do with the setting or the game.
Quest for Infamy's fourth wall breaks are fully in line with an inspiration that had a literal intermission and, "Go get some popcorn and a drink" nonsense interrupt a mass bandit raid on your caravan to Rasier.
Real life references are a part of these games. Don't like it? Awesome. But don't buy/play them then complain that they did exactly what they set out to do.
