Did Breath of the Wild finally succeed Ocarina of Time?

Nah. It seems to have succeeded in being largely forgotten after two months though.
Twilight Princess already did, and Breath of the wild didn't succeed that one.

OoT didn't have DLC so no
Link is cute. CUTE!

I would say BotW is the best 3D Zelda, but it's still lacking a lot that would make it seem as full as LttP.

OoT still seems like the best game in my book. I like it'slinearity, the perfect structure and great diversity of temples kept me engaged from start to finish whilst maintaining consistency.
I just wish OoT had better combat, it's still fun but it's what holds it back from being GOAT.
BotW does a good job of being both open world and not mind-numbingly boring but you really are spending all of your time in the same environments and a lot of the shrines are lazily put together.
The next open-world Zelda game will be the best Zelda game.

If they take BOTW and mix it with LTTP, where there are huge dungeons and a ton of secret caves and the like with items that you might not even need, like the invisible cloak, and you'll have yourself something worthy of being discussed when talking about GOAT.

What makes ALttP the best Zelda, then?

12 Dungeons, tons of items that you get simply by exploring and experimenting (invisible cape, mushroom/magic powder, double magic power, red/gold sword). Then there's the required items that require exploration, like the flute, quake, and the ice rod. Further more, almost all items you acquire are used in more than one dungeon.
It's just a great game, packed full of secrets and things to do.

BotW is entirely about exploration, adding 12 two hour long dungeon slogs wouldn't make it a better game, just more unfocused.
