the jump from AC to AC2 was big, everything has been noticeably improved, from gameplay/combat, soundtracks, locations (cities), graphics, characters, story, atmosphere etc.. etc..
it felt fresh, while ACB was more of the same,
the first couple of hours were good, but after sinking more time in into it felt like a chore.
i didn't care about the story nor the characters, Rome as a whole was boring unlike Florence or Venice (probably my biggest gripe)

AC2 had a great setup with the story leading Ezio's journey through various locations. It just fitted like a glove.
ACB has nothing of that sort. Just rome. Rome might be fun if you enjoy it, but its still just one location that gets boring after a while.
Not to mention that the story went from crossing off the murderers to mundane "muh borgia" shit I didn't really care about. Didn't help that they threw in shit like "is machiavelli a traitor? find out after these stupid escort quests!"
And besides these, it was literally just AC2 rehashed. So yea, its worse. Not to mention that I think ACB is when they started dumbing the combat system down, relying on "press the button now!" markers, rather than having the players rely on reacting to the enemy by visuals alone.

AC2 is still the most well rounded AC game, and besides 4 the only one worth playing imo.

I think AC1's combat suffered from the never fucking explaining anything.

In the tutorial they imply that the short sword is the only one that can counter, but every weapon can. Going back to play it after playing 2 I realized how deep the combat system actually was.

Rouge for the Templar switch and Syndicate for the grapple hook and the frye brothers, which surprisingly doesn't make the climbing obsolete and keeps the climbing from becoming boring, like unity's
