The game's criminally underrated. 10/10 OST, actually manages to be a competitively viable fighting game with depth, extremely balanced roster, and still has an active scene.

Yes, but Pokken isn't a purely 2d fighter, it switches from a 2d traditional fighter a la SF or KoF to a 3d arena fighter like Gundam vs or Dissdia midmatch based on a few mechanics (each move racks up phase points which auto shifts the phase once it hits a certain value, and grabs always switches phase). You just fundamentally cannot play pokken with a single play because it's not designed to be played that way.
