I just beat the first deus ex and loved it, I heard this one

It's a decent game but it's definitely a step backwards from the first.

IW was bad when it came out because it was bad compared to the first game, after subsequent games IW retroactively became better.

Neither IW or HR capture the atmosphere of the original, both feel too sci-fi I guess, the original is more about the dystopia than the tech.

I just played it. It's a standard RPG set in the Deus Ex world. Not bad. If you want a FPS spiritual successor there's also Project Snowblind aka Dozens of Guns, Grenades, and Mods the Game.
