Xbone has some games still that make it a worthwhile purchase like Halo, Gears, and Froza.

Switch is probably one of the best system concepts ever, the initial starter package offering you a Dock+2 Controllers+Screen/Console+Joycon Straps+JoyCon Grip giving you an insane way to play, effortless on screen/off screen play, and easy 2-person multiplayer literally anywhere that's stock with the system. It's a huge step up and Nintendo is hitting it hard with their biggest franchises right off the bat.

PS4 is the first console since the PS2 to really rustle the jimmies of PC users, offering the best price to performance in gaming with a massive library and plenty of exclusives to boot that caters well to fans of just about anything.

It's actually a great generation being ruined by Microshit's inability to make a compelling system with the Xbone and trying to push the Scorpio before the generation is barely half over, causing speculation that Sony will rush to put out a console to compete with it when the PS4Pro was just a upgrade of the original console that plays the same games.

If I have to explain to you why gen 1 was so great and why 2 was abysmal then you need to crack a book. Go read about the golden age of arcades, when it was legitimately cool to be good at videogames, when they were the social thing to do after classes. And then go read about how it all came crashing down and almost died entirely. If the 2600 was the articles of co federation that almost destroyed the fabric of the US, then the original Nintendo was tge constitution. Both it and its lesser known rival the master system breathed life back into a dying industry with hundreds if classic titles. This trend reached its peak in gen 4, which remains to date the only generation where if you didn't own all the consoles, you were still missing out. Then came the transition to 3D, and let me tell you it was much rougher than any of you 90s kids remember. To this day I'm convinved the N64 is the single most overrated console of all time. Not the worst by a long shot, but the most overrated. Yes, the gen had some gems, but what gen doesn't? Gen 6 improved things substantially, and although they're not as perfect as their fanbases proclaim, the PS2 l, GameCube, and original Xbox brought back another glory age for video games, except now the West was really starting to chip in.

Since then it's been a steady decline. A lot of that has to do with publishers taking advantage of as much as possible to make a buck. In the past this was done through difficulty, but now it's through dipshit DLC practices like microtransactions. Still, gotta stay positive.

The first gen I've ever sat out of. I kept telling myself "as soon as some good games start rolling out" but they were all so few and far between among the glorified tech demos and cobbled up remakes of the same fucking shit we've all played before.
