I honestly don't like the idea of there being one button auto combos because even if they aren't optimal, they still will be used even by pros to confirm a kill combo. There is almost no chance of dropping them in grand finals of a tourney, which makes the human aspect of fighting games less exciting.

But the actual fighting game system is outdated as today.

And why? Because spme of them are reliant on making combos with different commands in a succesion that could only be learned by practcing over and over.
And what's worse, those combos are already dictated by frame data, and of the game even wants that combo to be a thing in the first place.
There is no "This goes to this" list anywhere for almost any game, and researching frame data is an instant turn off for new players, and most combos are already done by the time they want to actually play the game, making then essencially, replicate inputs in the training mode to get anywhere in the meta.

Not to mention that some mainline controllers are not suited for fighting games as much an arcade stick is, not everyone is going to buy one for 90-150 bucks for every console or to be "good" at it, not to mention the "skill gap" between a kid who just knows how to do all of character's move and specials and someone who knows 1 hit kill combos and has knowledge of frame data and even glitches is absurdly HUGE.
The kid is doing nothing the game isnt telling him and he will NEVER win.

The Fighting game meta is going to die if they do not become accesible or literally make the tutorial actually tell you everything that actually happens on screen at the time you boot it up.

So yeah, i totally agree with what Marvel vs Capcom Infinite is doing.

The imfamous "Does this A stand for France" scene sums him up honestly. Cap in Ultimate was little more than a jack booted thug. Meanwhile, 616 Cap has scenes praising the bravery of the french who never surrendered even when their leaders did.

Take Civil War for example. Ultimate Cap would without question have taken Tony's role if it was placed in the Ultimate Universe. He was basically running SHIELD towards the end of the series. IIRC he forced Peter into SHIELD training right before the Death of Spider-man storyline.

I think they're also great at animating and conveying personality through body language.
