i did and it was really bad. no one understood how the map worked, the balance was really bad (in particular one character was almost identical to pre-nerf pip used to be in paladins, back when he was the best character in the game) and it had nothing really going for it over all the other class based small team pvp games you can play now. not even compared to the free ones

i did like the old lady though

Sounds like you only played really early Gigantic if you're talking about OP Uncle Sven. It's a lot different now, much more balanced.

Steam release is their only hope. Luckily they were picked up by Perfect World after Microshit jewed them, and all of PW's games are on steam so I'm hopeful.

Then again, PW is a Chinese company and Tencent is making WeGame or whatever to kill steam in china so who knows.

For everything Motiga has gone through they seem to be pretty confident in the game with how long they've stuck with it.

One of the artists actually messaged me a few days ago thanking me for giving the game a shoutout on my blog. They seem pretty active on their reddit and I think they're on the public Discord server ran by some community members? They get around and are pretty transparent about development etc.

It's good that they're enthusiastic and passionate about their game; you can tell the game was made as a passion project and not a soulless cash cow like Overwatch. But sometimes sadly that's not enough. Hopefully PW will know how to properly market the game if and when release ever happens. I want to see it succeed.
