Super Mario RPG. I was about 10, My parents sold my SNES years ago by that point in life, and despite having an N64 and PS, I was getting some hard nostalgia pains going on because I assumed I would never be able to play those great games again. My dad noticed and at some point must have discussed it with someone at work, because he came home and showed me cherryroms.com, where I got ZSNES and several roms (took a few hours total on dialup). It was the entrance to a whole new world...

Sonic the Hedgehog. It was summer break between 8th and 9th grade and I was bored, trying to find some way to play a sonic game on my computer. Came across some fishy-ass website that had a way to play it on your computer and it just downloaded kega fusion with a copy of the game's ROM in its folder. Kinda weird but insanely convenient for my stupid 13 year old ass.

Funny enough I don't even emulate games that much these days. I'd rather just buy the original hardware and a flash cart.

Rainbow Islands on NES
I have no idea how that happened, either.
It was on my uncle-once-removed's computer, and I've never seen that particular emulator before or since in my life. It was weird. Like some all grey dystopian shit, but the letters were pink.
The second game I tried on it was Castlevania because I had never played the original at that point despite having CotM on my GBA.
When I got home, I tried to find something similar, and got some NES emulator with a bleeding hand that fucked up my mouse cursor when I wasn't using it. Despite that, the first game I personally remember getting was Mega Man 2 to see how much it was like my gameboy version.

Final Fantasy IV. I used to work on an internet cafe and a customer left a floppy disk containing Snes9X and a copy of the rom. I took the disk home and the rest is history.

Pokemon Red. The game wasn't released yet in the US and I had no idea what an emulator was back then so I assumed it was a badass fan game. Then the actual game released and I was the cool guy at school since I already knew where everything was. I'm still kinda surprised that someone released a fully translated version back then.
