It's not dying, or vanishing. What's happening is that Capcom has noticed our small size after having spent so much money on SFV only to find how small their target audience was. We've always been small, because our interests are for fighting games that completely cut-out randomness, party mechanics, moves/attacks that require tight execution.

Comparatively, we've grown as a community albeit extremely slowly. It's a niche genre, but it's certainly not dying. If you want to play a fun game like ARMS then go ahead. But don't call it a fighting game, because you'll either be confusing the person you're talking to (or even yourself).

The FGC's well-being doesn't pivot on SF5, or even Capcom for that matter. There was a time, you know, where Street Fighter took a backseat and where Tekken dominated the entire community. It wasn't until SF4 that Street Fighter (and 2D fighters) became the favored platform in the FGC.

Like I said, go play an actual fighting game, like say, Garou, Guilty Gear, any SF or Tekken. Then go play Pokken or any Naruto fighter. Feel the difference, and then you'll pretty much know what to expect for ARMS.

I'm not saying ARMS is/is going to be shit, I'll probably buy a copy as well, but I'm sure as shit not going to be expecting tournament-level play at my locals.
