She starts out as whiny, immature, insecure child at the start of the game because she wants to prove to her dad she could be a Hunter. When Gaston lashes out at her, she realizes her mistake and how much a retard she was being and becomes a better person. It's not the best character development, but it's still character development. She's also the most down to earth of the group and would most likely be the most important person in Nanashi's life.
