I reset about 14k times for a shiny Latias in BW2.

Other than that, I used to do some really heavy IV breeding and for whatever reason I bred a shit ton of Natu and Bagons in gen III.
Like, entire boxes with nothing but them.

I played vanilla WoW to the original Naxxramas. That was a ridiculous amount of grinding to get 40 people geared.

resetted like 100 times for a shiny squirtle in leaf green before i quit and wondered how the fuck people can do this

Persona 4, spent 5 hours grinding levels to beat true ending. At least I had infinite money for so healing thanks to Mr Pringles.

I spent 2 months translating a Spanish Fire Red ROM to my language using memes and people from my own country. Only I have played it so far, but I regret not translating Emerald instead since there's more to do there.
I hacked the game to include all pokeyman in the game though, also changed some evos and tweaked some items.

i've played all sort of shitty grinding game but no game will ever fucking beat granblue fantasy, that game broke my autistic spirit

you see, in this game there are 10 special characters called the juutenshu, in order to unlock a juutenshu, you have to partecipate in a thing called a guild war, a guild war is basicaly a group contest into who grinds more and it's exactly as fun as it sounds

playing the guild war give you tokens which you use to pull a slot machine, the slot machine give you a weapon related to the juutenshu, you have to then play the guild war until the slot machine spit at least 4 weapons

once you get the weapon you have to power it up, in order to power it up, you need a shitload of material which you get by repeating the same battles over and over and over, some materials require you to beat the same stage around 50 times

oh did i mention that some of the material required are time gated and you can only get X of them per days?

after you're done with powering the weapon, it requires you to use a gold bar on it, gold bar can only be gotten by playing another different event where you collect gold nuggets, more grinding is involved, you can only make a certain amount of gold bar, and everytime you make a gold bar, the next one is harder to make and requires more nugget

after that you finaly got the character! but wait! the character isn't fully powered up! in order to fully power up the character, you need to build an artifact

in order to build an artifact you have to get special items from a stage that has an extremely small chance to appear everytime you beat the grinding stage

in fact you have to beat the grinding stage something like 50 times just to make the artifact stage appear once

you need 40 of these items in order to build the artifact

once you are done building the artifact, the artifact needs to be powered up, how do you power up the artifact? why! another gold bar!

Mostly shinies when I was a kid (Hell, I still grind for them now).
When Moon came out I spent like 6 hours to get a shiny Miltank, and 7 hours for a shiny Smeargle.

Also play Monster Hunter, so I put in some ludicrous hours trying to get a rare item drop.

One time my friend and I started playing Ragnarok, and we spent about 12 hours powerleveling our characters.

Everytime i play Dragon Quest VIII i absolutely have to grind metal king slimes up to level 65 to beat the dragons, and i always have a blast doing it. I also get every single item in the casinos, which is pretty fun too.

I'm still grinding for some decent equipment traits in Nioh, and we have two more DLC to go through after this one so it'll only get worse. The game is good enough to tolerate the grind and gacha drops, but I'm still baffled as to why they thought people liked grinding.

Ragnarok Online. Had some 20h+ sessions when rushing to 99, and use to have a multitasking setup consisting of:

Client 1 for sniper (specific drops, generally witch starsands) or super novice (1.5k sohees/hour)
Client 2 for priest
Client 3 for I'm Vanilmirth (camping evil druid spot, checking every once in a while)
Client 4 for Lif (Bathories - teleporting every 20~30 seconds)

I used to skype or watch anime while doing that shit. Nothing else compares, I stopped doing it cause at some point I realized I wasn't living my life correctly.

shiny Modest Litwick that had some egg moves no one even cared about (Acid Armor and Heat Wave)

took 4 months on and off to hatch. My boxes were all filled with rejects. IVs were perfect though

It's basically a single player MMO (with co-op). Not that bad if you're into hack and slash games, but the increased difficulty in NG+ runs pretty much forces you to grind instead of simply getting gud, not to mention all the cool equipment that showers on you which is only equippable after 30+ levels.

I don't usually grind that much in pokemon, but it is a rite of passage for me to level a Heracross from 5 to 19 in preparation for Whitney and her fucking Miltank. Using brick break on that cow is so satisfying

I used to play this shitty MMO called Adventure Quest: Worlds when I was younger, and I grinded the same quest two hours a day for three weeks to get a new class for my character(The other option was to pay for it with RL money).

Legacy of Goku 2, there was a locked path a quarter into the game that had dinosaurs that gave ridiculous amounts of exp. The problem was you had to be level 35 or 40 to get there but the way the game was made, you could argo 2 of the dinosaurs close to the gate and attack them without you getting hurt. They gave out so much exp you could grind to max level(lvl 50) on them and I did just that. Took me 45 minutes just to get 1 character to 50 and I would do this for every character including Hercule.

While all this doesn't really sound like an accomplishment, I played this game to death. I would beat the game on all 3 saves all while grinding each character to 50, then start a new game and repeat. I even had friends asking me to grind their characters, this game was addicting to me.

In the end dude gave the info for free. I broke the table that I grinded the money on his fucking head, in heat mode.

Fucking Aeonaxx. Probably two weeks of camping and patrolling to find this fucker. Think I played for 3 days after I found him then quit..

Grinded PvP rank in Vanilla WoW, twice. I could never go for the max rank, rank 14 because I was a teenager and had to go to school, but I did rank 13 on two characters.

In practice this meant that, for like three months, I would come home at 14-16, turn on my computer, and play WoW until midnight and sleep. In the weekends I'd play from the moment I woke up to the moment I went to sleep, around 14-16 hours a day. If I took a break for a day or two at any point during the grnid, I stagnated in rank for a week.

The system worked so that you got honor points for doing PvP in various ways and at the end of every week (Wednesday), the players got a standing based on total honor accumulated. The one with most honor was 1, the one with second most was 2, etc., and your PvP rank grew - or declined - based on your standing every week. The last 3-4 ranks required you to be top 10 every week, with the last rank requiring you to be I think top 2 or top 1 every week for a few weeks.

I.e. the more other people played, the more you, too, had to play to rank up.

Christ. As a kid you really were willing to put yourself through a lot for some e-bragging rights.
