She's DAMN good with a pistol, hell she even says she is. She's like a short range Boone with a pistol, I'm not even kidding. Just be careful because of the rare companion load out disappearing when you dismiss them.

She has some pretty fun dialogue and is a colorful character with an interesting back story and quest line. Her quest line ties in with the entire future of the Crimson Caravan and the Van G.s It's pretty neat.

She's more desired for her character and less so for her techniques. Plus she makes custom moonshine if you have the right stuff.

Vincent Vincent for a companion mod. Niner's alright but the fact his story just sort of ends once you reach Vegas brings it down a good bit.

New vegas essentials has some nice features in it. explosions have shrapnel and can knock you down if too close to the blast, combat is a modifed version of obscurum pandemics combat (same mod author) and having high NCR rep means soldiers salute you and the safe house becomes a base for your own personal ranger regiment called the bullfighters. only problem is the mod author hasn't updated it in a while, which is a shame cause it sounded like it would be pretty good (would have mainly been similar stuff for the other factions.)

For quest mods I guess someguy2000 series. Coito ergo sum is alright as well and I haven't gotten to try boulder dome or autumn leaves yet.

NCR is the only faction with good quests. Nearly every other faction quest fucking deals with the NCR in one way or another (Khans, Powder Gangers, Legion, Followers, Free Side, etc.)

In my first play-through I never got the impression the Mojave was anything other than NCR territory, with just the Strip being like a sort of Vatican City kind of deal.

They're all good first time experiences imo. LR has the best gameplay of them all if you can forgive the linearity. I replayed them all recently and found LR to be the most entertaining one, HH most boring, OWB had fun bits but you get tired of it, DM the strongest beginning but tedious as fuck

Requires weeks of circling the map until I can buy the GRA version and all the mods, and the beam splitter actually makes it a worse weapon against anything you'd want to use a big gun against. And it isn't significantly lighter than the gauss rifle. With YCS I don't need three perks and overcharged ammo. I don't even need to aim for the head. It just kills.

It would make sense I guess if the ammo were scarce, but I'm drowning in bulk microfusion cells. I carry the RCW and the sonic emitter around in case of ammo shortage, but I have not, at any point in the game, been short on ammo.

The entire cast is pretty good. Look at all the varied responses. Usually there tends to be at least an overall consensus over what companions are the best in games but with New Vegas people seem to like all of them.

I personally liked having Veronica around a lot. I'd say that Arcade had the most interesting backstory of the cast though.
