first Expansion Pass details, lads!

>Trial of the Sword:
By accessing this location, players can challenge the new Trial of the Sword (previously known as “Cave of Trials Challenge”), where enemies appear one after another. Link starts without any armor or weapons, and if he defeats all of the enemies in the room he can proceed to the next area. Trial of the Sword will include around 45 total rooms for players to complete. When Link clears all of the trials, the true power of the Master Sword will awaken and always be in its glowing powered-up state.

>Hard Mode:
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is already considered one of the most thrilling games in The Legend of Zelda series, and fans looking for a challenge are in for a treat with the new Hard Mode. In Hard Mode, the “ranks” of enemies in the game are increased (i.e. Red Bokoblins change to Blue), and players might even encounter higher-ranking enemies they wouldn’t find through normal play. Enemies will also slowly recover health in battle, forcing you to defeat them more quickly. They will also more easily spot Link as he approaches them, making these enemies tougher to sneak up on. In addition, floating planks held aloft by balloons will be scattered around Hyrule. By successfully reaching these planks, players can battle enemies and collect treasure.
>>
>Hero’s Path Mode:
Exploring Hyrule is exciting, but with such a large world it’s sometimes hard for players to remember where they’ve been. To help with tracking progress, the new Hero’s Path Mode will document every step players take, and mark their path in green on the map. The route taken will be tracked for the player’s last 200 hours of play time, with an included slider to track footsteps on a timeline. This even works retroactively, so players that have already put many hours into the game will be able to see where they have traveled. This feature will help in identifying the locations they haven’t visited in this vast world, and may help players find those Shrines they haven’t encountered yet.

>Travel Medallion:
There will be a new treasure chest somewhere in the game world which contains the Travel Medallion. With the Travel Medallion, players can create a temporary new travel point on the map where they are currently standing. Link can then transport himself to that point at any time. Only one travel point can be registered on the map at a time.

>Korok Mask:
By finding the new Korok Mask, players will have a much easier time finding Korok locations in the game. When equipped, the mask will shake, indicating that a Korok is hidden somewhere nearby.

>New Equipment:
Eight new pieces of equipment inspired by previous characters and games in the series will be added to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild after downloading the first DLC pack. Once discovered by the player, they will yield equipment themed after fan-favorite games and characters such as Midna, Tingle, Phantom and Majora’s Mask.

Note that on Wii U, you’ll need to download the Voice Pack from the eShop.
>Nintendo also says it implemented a number of fixes in today’s update
>>
>already got all Korok Seeds
Oh well, I knew something like this was coming but I still wanted to get them beforehand.

>Travel Medallion
Pretty much Farore's Wind then. Sounds nice, despite there being 120+ fast-travel points by the end of the game, there are still some out of the way areas so this should come in handy.

Cave of Trials and Hard mode sound good, I've seen a screenshot of the floating balloon planks and it seems like a cool idea.

That's actually preddy fucking good news.

Everything looks fine, except this shit:
>Enemies will also slowly recover health in battle, forcing you to defeat them more quickly

Dumbest fucking shit ever. Good combat makes the enemies play by the same rules as the player.
>>
>>375698190
Yeah, it was silly of them to have all the audio tracks on the cart but not let you access them without changing the text too, looks like they just needed some time to properly implement things.

To make the game harder they should really nerf or completely get rid of the upgraded armor set bonuses and champion abilities. They basically make it so you don't have to cook anymore for stat boosting effects in the late game which is a shame because cooking is a huge part of the game.
>>
>>375699346
You can turn off the champion abilities in the options

Oh well, guess I'll be skipping this. I'll wait for news about the dungeon, hopefully that's worth a damn.

this zelda is old and isn't revolutionary at all, meanwhile the open world genre evolved...but oh yes this is not an open world, It's Zelda...I don't know in what way since they ''''''break''''' all the conventions that gamers hated

>>375699837

Zelda BoTW scratches my Xenoblade X exploration itch, and I grateful it for that.
Also if open world RPGs are evolved, why Gothic is still remembered so fondly by many? Maybe it was better than those supposedly "evolved" games?

because shit like this Zelda that can't still go past the minimum requirements for modern open world videogames and get 10 out of 10s because of money remind us of how dreadful videogames are becoming
just Marketing the game
>>
>>375700252
See, the thing is you can have both a large world to explore and a multitude of fun large dungeons.

The Divine Beasts are glorified shrines, but several more places like Hyrule Castle? That would be GOAT material.
>>
>>375700341
so you are just butthurt over scores which no one sane person should care about? figures.
>just Marketing the game
it always was
games are product which is meant to be sold, they don't make them out of good will of their hearts fuelled by butterflies
>>
>>375697062
I wouldn't say hundreds but maybe 20 hours leisurely playing.
>>
>>375700413
it would be nice, sure. but it's basically "what if" territory. you can't just keep adding content forever, game needs to be released eventually.
on the other hand you can argue that large dungeons being limited make them more special to visit, like when you find first time labyrinth island. Not a dungeon, but might as well be one.

Hard mode might be cool but other than that, what's it getting you? a few cheap nostalgia cash-in outfits and a master sword powerup?

Where are the gameplay additions? Other than the floating platforms. where are the tweaks to durability that let us use our favorite weapons in more than one fucking fight before they snap like twigs, or a blacksmith that lets us repair them and upgrade the durability? Why not add new foes like the scores of iconic zelda enemies currently left out (darknuts, redeads, skulltullas)? Maybe some content for the top left corner of the map? Something to do on this gigantic open world map other than clear enemy camps and do shrines ad nauseum. I mean shit, I liked this game but it was ubisoft open world: the game, and the DLC only seem to reinforce that.

The story DLC had better add some more stuff to Hyrule, because they did a brilliant job in crafting a world where terrain and region's weather patterns actually make a difference to gameplay, but it just goes to waste as there is nothing interesting to find.

This cave of trials is accessed by putting the Master Sword back in its pedestal, can anyone think of another similar interaction in the currently existing world that would make sense and bring Link to a new dungeon?

Otherwise, they could just add stuff to a currently empty area, but I can't really think of one just like that.
>>
>>375710687
The ending of the game gives a hint Zelda remarks that one of the devine beasts has stopped working and that you should both go and investigate. So the new content will likely revolve around that quest.

Are people seriously excited for this shit? I mean really Nintendo drones are fucking pathetic, don't you guys remember the cave of trials or ordeals or whatever the fuck it was called in TP and it was by far the worst part of the game, same thing for that Wolf Amiibo cave, just a boring gauntlet of enemies

Then you have hard mode which again is another fucking disappointment, I mean seriously remember when people were complaining on how it's paid DLC and it was argued that it would be a much higher quality or in depth thing since it wasn't included in the actual game? Well turns out it could've been in the actual game and it should've been, seriously? Tougher enemies and being spotted easily? It's like a whole new game!

And overpriced as hell too with no chance of a price drop in a million years considering they have almost 10 year old games at full price still, it's just another example of things that are literally okay when Nintendo does it

The new dungeon is 99% guaranteed to not be postgame. It's likely just a new side story that has nothing to do with the rest of the game, probably making use of one of the more pointless areas like Faron/Lurelin Village or Hebra Mountains.

I'm still crossing my fingers for the 1% though. The malfunctioning Beast is Vah Ruta and Zelda mentions Mipha and going to see King Dorephan, so...

>Postgame story where Mipha comes back and Link cucks Zelda with her

I'd take 10 copies.
>>
>triforce springs of power, wisdom and courage
>all 3 just have shrines
>three gigantic labyrinths
>shrine at the end

>it's a shrine

Fuck shrines and fuck Sheikahs. Sheikahs are behind everything now. They've become the ancient aliens of Zelda and every mystery is answered by "Sheikahs did it".
>>
>>375712726
Having post game would be so damn good, but sadly game doesn't seem to be designed around that
>>
>>375712726
I seriously doubt that the new quest will localised to just one area of the map. If the games DOES revolve around Vah Ruto and Mipha, I think it's likely that player will be tasked with some kind of quest involving visiting different regions before opening up the new temple. At least that's my guess.
>>
>>375710895
Maybe the divine beasts could help you access them (Vah Medoh taking you to a temple in the sky or Vah Ruta helping you to get to an underwater temple for example)

That way they could also scale the difficulty because they could be sure that you have already cleared the corresponding divine beast.
>>
>>375712684
There really isn't much they can change without breaking the game. The fundamentals, climbing, instant health for food, gathering, item use, etc, are too integral to the game itself to change. And since item use/champion powers are completely dependent on the player, players themselves can decide how hard they want the game to be. There's no reason for them to change something that's up to the player to decide. That was be going against the core theme of the game of openness and freedom of choices.

>The ability to see steps on your map?
Did Ubisoft ever add something like that? I know they like cutting missions from the game and then making them exclusive "for the players" or season pass owners but I've never heard of them doing a feature like that.
>>
>>375715905
>Not a problem
Forces you to teleport around the map whenever you want to get your good weapons back, encourages avoiding fights (core mechanic), and not using your best shit because you don't want it to break. Encouraged bad weapon design with most of them being completely redundant.

>The don't cook food?
You have no reason not to outside the time involved to do it, which is the same problem armor has, and not cooking food wouldn't solve the quarter health+heal mechanic turning every boss into a joke.

>I don't see how that is a bad thing.
It's highly repetitive and boring.

>Are you trying to frame it as bad?
Yes, as outside occasional gimmick armor all those are horribly boring.

>Like?
>infrequent enemy encounters
>shitloads of boring traversal from one area to another
>copypasta design (fetch quests, towers, shrines, koroks, dungeons all follow the exact same format, etc)
>combat mechanics taking a huge hit
>tower climbs are boring
>far less replay value than a linear game with a fraction of the fluff
>having to fast travel to restock supplies

>This is far from usual open world problems.
It has most of them, introduces some of its own, and would have been far stronger if it stuck to the normal Zelda formula while bringing over the physics and combat improvements.

>infrequent enemy encounters
What? Literally what are you doing? I'm encountering enemies every minute or so
>shitloads of boring traversal
That's wrong though. The traversal is interesting especially if you haven't been there before. The best moments of the game is when I am lost and wandering. Seems that you only care about the points of interests and not the journey
>copypasta design
It's not even exclusive to open worlds. It is a game symptom as a whole
>tower climbs are boring
Nope. The guardian and the octorock sniper ones are fun
>far less replay value than a linear game
See, i would never understand this. BotW is the most replayable Zelda due to the ability to do a straight to Ganon run without being railroaded into everything. The boss fights are much more tense with low health and no healing. With linear games, especially Zelda, you know exactly what to expect. It objectively has less replay value than BotW
>having to fast travel to restock
WHY ARE YOU DOING THAT?
There are plenty of weapons and items lying around everywhere. Why do you even need to restock unless you want a very specific weapon? And if so you don't even require it, the utility ones are everywhere. It's literally your own autism acting up

Adding a sharpening mechanic like in Monster Hunter would have been much better than the current durability system.
>Have durability system apply to wooden weapons only
>Metal weapons lose their sharpness instead
>Hammers and other blunt metal weapons don't break, but deal less damage in general compared to other
>Have whetstones drop from mining ore

>i'm gonna waste my Ancient gear on Bokoblins
You were saying something about shit mentality?

>I never once felt the need to 'save' shit or 'replenish' my weapons as there are plenty of good ones lying around
So you don't care most of the weapons are redundant stat sticks or that you're running around with boring, shit equipment.

>But you can't heal if you don't have food
Which is everywhere.

>And as I said above, the heart thing is no longer a problem after you don't get one hit constantly
You don't seem to grasp the issue. Many enemies can't bring you below a quarter heart if you had more than a quarter heart before being hit, which means you can take as many hits as you have pieces of consumable food, regardless of how much that food heals.

>The puzzle shrines and blessing shrines (along with their puzzles) are never repetitive to me.
Nice appeal to emotion. They're all fairly samey physics puzzles, and that's without getting into koroks, memories, kill the enemy camp to open the chest, etc.

>Literally what are you doing
Playing BotW, which you apparently aren't.

>The traversal is interesting
No one, boring walk/runs and slow climbing is not interesting in the least.

>The best moments of the game is when I am lost and wandering
>not combat and puzzles
Some people actually play games because they enjoy the core mechanics, not for a hiking simulator.

>Seems that you only care about the interesting parts and not the long stretches of nothing inbetween
That would be correct.

>It's not even exclusive to open worlds
It is at its absolute worst in open worlds which have downgraded mechanics due to spending all their time creating a large, empty map.

>slow climbs up towers aren't boring
>irrelevant guardians to kill at the base and octorocks which can't reach you at two towers makes this ok
Nope yourself.

>See, i would never understand this.
Because you are apparently a blind shill.
>>
>>375720118

>>
>>375717887
>BotW is the most replayable Zelda due to the ability to do a straight to Ganon
Skipping 99% of the game's content. Invigorating.

>The boss fights are much more tense with low health and no healing
Yes, challenge runs make every game more interesting, that isn't exclusive to BotW. The bosses are damage sponges and all die fast to arrows or just mashing away with the Master Sword/Royal weapon.

>With linear games
You have far more diverse content without shitloads of padding, meaning you spend most of your time engaging with that content instead of boring traversal/grinding.

>It objectively has less replay value
It has far more because you're not burning yourself out with super repetitive filler.

>WHY ARE YOU DOING THAT?
Because it is the only way to get back your top tier shit and specific ingredients.

>There are plenty of weapons and items lying around everywhere
Which are overwhelmingly trash.

>Why do you even need to restock unless you want a very specific weapon
What do you think I'm restocking?

>And if so you don't even require it
That's true, I don't have to use the weapons that are actually different or the best, I simply want to, as they're the most interesting tactically. Not all of us like the taste of shit

>Except it doesn't
It does. The game is padding supreme with tons of boring traversal and lacks combat variety.

>>375718120
>I'm glad it ditched the tutorial
What do you think the Plateau is.

>the story shoved in your face
What story?

>the lock and key solution to every single puzzle
As opposed to climb past everything or grab what can be with Magnesis.

>it mainly is your own fucking mentality about the weapon system
That it shouldn't force me to waste time whenever I want to use the best/most interesting toys, and encouraged bad design elsewhere? Guilty as charged.

>I don't mind my weapons breaking at all
Because you're too stupid to notice or too casual to care about the functional differences between them.
>>
>>375719905
That's a terrible idea. The best idea would simply be an on/off option for those that don't like it.
>>
>>375719905

Guess i'm still holding out on the season pass until winter.
>>
>>375717887
>>forces you to, discourages fights
>That's entirely on you and your shit mentality though.

This is one of the main reasons that Sticker Star was awful.

Sticker Star:
Oh boy enemies. What do I get if I kill them?
Random stickers probably coins
But I have to use *certain* stickers to kill them, what if I need those stickers later
Tough shit go back to town and buy the right stickers
Well then I guess I might as well not battle

BotW:
Oh boy enemies. What do I get if I kill them?
Whatever weapon they were carrying probably monster parts
But I have to use my weapons durability to kill them, I don't want to use up my 99 damage weapon to get a 1 damage stick
Tough shit wait for blood moon and go farm again
Well then I guess I might as well not battle

That's awful. If you could at least repair weapons without them breaking it'd be alright.

These DLC will be good for people playing for the first time, but for people who've finished it already it doesn't offer much value.
>>
>>375696828
I don't see how any of this adds value to people who have already completed the game as well as finished the shrines. This sounds great for someone who hasn't played before but how is this supposed to entice someone who's already pumped so much time in the game. Hero's path is useless with all shrines done. Travel medallion is incredibly redundant given just how many fast travel locations there are, especially when you finish all the damn shrines. The new equipment is cool but again, if you finished most of the things to do, it really has no relevance.
>>
>>375721574
Stupid comparison. In the Sticker Star example, you have to use certain stickers to defeat enemies. In BotW, you can use any weapon. If you don't want to use the 99 weapons, use one of the many other lower ranked ones you probably have.

Weapon durability is only irritating for the first third of the game. I think it could have been handled differently, sure. But it's not like you say it is.

Anyone else hope that in the next game they keep the open world system, but shrink it down a bit and get rid of shrines and replace them with dungeons?

It was always kind of disappointing finding a cool hidden spot on the map only to find out that my reward was just a shrine blessing instead of a nice piece of armor or something. It takes the element of surprise out of the game when you know that your only rewards for exploration are either going to be shrines or korok seeds.

Situations like finding the Zora Helmet should have been far more numerous.

Nintendo said future Zelda games will follow the BotW mold (much like MM, WW, TP, SS did for OoT)

But how will they make the future games overworld?

I was thinking either using different world altogether (Termina), or Hyrule from a different timeline (Downfall Hyrule, or post-ST "New Hyrule")

Also I don't think they should stick to the memory system. It worked fine in BotW, but I think it should be a one-game thing.

I'd also like less "shrines" in favor of more major dungeons.

Finally, a humanoid Ganon would be nice. I understand what Calamity Ganon was, but it was more a force of nature than a character.
>>
>>375732609
Memories will be a one time thing because this plot is after everyone else but you and Zelda died and failed your quest. Other games will be the actual quest, not the lucky second chance. Also more lively worlds in some and deader in other i imagine. Like TP clocktown was pretty lively.

Okay I'll enlighten, you. BotW is a deliberate break from Zelda conventions, Nintendo have been pretty open about that. Previous Zelda games have been built around a system based on player empowerment. BotW is the polar opposite, a measured attempt at taking the player out of their comfort zone. Nintendo WANT the player to feel underpowered and constantly on the backfoot. They want you to feel lost and vulnerable. It's part of the fucking theme of the game. Sorry if it was too subtle for you.

Your "arguments" can be used against any weapon durability system in any game. If you don't like the combat forcing you to switch weapons constantly, that's fine, but no reason to be a faggot and argue about it endlessly in /v/ like it's a fucking travesty and not a design choice. I think giving the enemies health regen is a pretty good way to balance Link's use of items in the pause menu.

Also I think hard mode might be a bigger deal than most people here are assuming. Depending on how many of those floating enemy platforms there are, it might make it a challenge just to glide around or climb mountains because you'll constantly get sniped at while high in the air.
>>
>>375697695
I really hope they have ATLEAST one Lynel in the sky. Please Nintendo. Just casually adventuring, then suddenly shock arrows rain from the sky out of no where.

Ontop of that, getting what I expected out of hard mode. Only thing that could disappoint me is, after advertising a new enemy level, they don't apply this new level to Lynel. Like if it's gold or something, please make some if not all of the silver Lynel gold, give them a stronger weapon type too.

You do realize that you yourself admitted that no one would stack their inventory with ancient weapons, right? That's why your scenario is dumb. It relies on someone playing in an absurd manner.

>Which you aren't going to do because you don't want them wasted on trash, so you're going to use the Master Sword or trash to deal with trash enemies,
Which brings me back to my original statement: it depends on what you are fighting that bokoblin with a royal weapon for. You can't pose this problem and not contextualize it.

>No it doesn't, it will not kill Guardians as quickly as Ancient shit does
Sure, but the Master Sword still kills them more quickly than most weapons and you won't have to lose your precious ancient weapons that you spent money on only not to use them for some strange reason.

>Which is why people use it, it's a solution to a problem that doesn't need to exist in the first place.

People have shat on every flagship Zelda game this century for being the same formula. Can't blame Nintendo for trying something different when that's exactly what everyone was screaming out for.

>armor reduces all damage to a quarter heart
>60+ healing meals before regular food
>Champ powers including an auto rez
>Bomb/Ancient arrows

That's YOUR choice. Show restraint if you don't like it. You can turn the champion powers OFF in your inventory.

>map with fast travel and free weapons lying around

>"It's part of the fucking theme of the game". I thought the theme was 'do as you please'.

'Do as you please is not a THEME'. The theme of the game is about the player being in the WILD (hence the name of the game). Nintendo put plenty of effort into making the game feel like a living breathing world, the art direction and subtle music enchance the feeling of isolation. Nintendo essentially made a survival game.
>>
>>375714674
Because they left how hard you want the game to be up to the players to decide. The game is essentially a self-imposed challenge game. Champion's power too overpowered? Disable it. Stasis too strong? Try not to use it. Hearts makes it too easy to tank hits? Grab stamina upgrade/ignore shrines. And so forth. The game gives you the options to do whatever you want and how to play it. There really isn't much they can do to make it harder other than this that you the player can't do so already.

>>New Equipment: Eight new pieces of equipment inspired by previous characters and games in the series will be added to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild after downloading the first DLC pack. Once discovered by the player, they will yield equipment themed after fan-favorite games and characters such as Midna, Tingle, Phantom and Majora’s Mask.

Now if they could just add in the other amiibo outfits into the game to be found, that'd be great. As fun as being able to call in a weapon or supplies is, having to spend 3-4 days at a time with ONE amiibo for an outfit is a bit much. If they were just strewn about the land, I'd be fine with that. Going with the Hero's path option would at least mean you'd eventually find them in your travels.

>>375743050
Well, while I love dual audio, I think the previous two patches were a little more important for fixing 95% of frame rate dips.
>>
>>375743079
>As fun as being able to call in a weapon or supplies is, having to spend 3-4 days at a time with ONE amiibo for an outfit is a bit much
But if you have all the compatible amiibo, you only need three-four days total for all their outfits and exclusive weapons. It's not like you're limited to using a single amiibo per day.
>>
>>375742405
No it isn't. You are welcome to go and try, but you will get trounced unless you have the foresight to bring loads of elixirs that increase your hearts and give you extra damage/protection buffs. It's hardly the same kind of self-imposed restriction as say "Alright, my character can only use one type of weapon. I will never pick up anything that isn't in the same category"
>>
>>375743178

Adding more enemies in locations where there were none before is not a hard mode thing?

I mean it certainly will make the game feel harder. It depends on how many of them there are though. Could you imagine climbing a tall cliff and you get sniped and fall to your death because of a nearby enemy platform you didn't notice?
>>
>>375743480
It's still pretty tedious having to get the majority of them through toys that are near impossible get because of asshole scalpers scooping them up and reselling the shit for $40-70 a pop. Having an option to just download them all into the game and having to scavenge for them would at least be a welcomed possibility, especially if they're doing to drop some throwback gear with this new DLC.
>>
>>375743372
I honestly never had any major trouble with the framerate.
Like the frame rate was pretty poor in the korok forest etc, but I never had it as bad nor have I ever had trouble as frequently, as I have seen people having from streams like Twitch or Youtube, or the footage from reviews etc.

Like I've never had the game actually freeze even for a moment. Which is something that looked like it was something relatively common when things got saucy going by the footage of others.
And most of the time when running around the overworld I didn't have any trouble either. Unless there was lots of fire involved. But even then I never experienced any momentary freezes.

Well. The patches certainly improved the framerate. And it was much appreciated. But I really never seemed to have as much framerate issues as others seemed to be having.

I am guessing you'll have to start a new game for Hard Mode, right?
I guess I'll create a new profile then.

It would be neat if BotW allowed you to have your classic 3 player profiles, under one Switch profile. And then each profile, had the usual array of saves that you regularly do.
Because I really do not want to erase all my progress just to start a new game. And while I can easily create a new profile, and most likely will, having to do so feels a bit silly.
>>
>>375743771
That has the possibility of being a little bullshity, though only if the things suddenly spawn out of nowhere and you're inching up the cliff face trying to get the most out of your stamina gauge. Still, it would have been cool if they could have done more things like make fast traveling restricted to having to find a shrine and travel between them. Hell, with that medallion they're putting in, that could be your emergency escape if you're in dire need of a warp and can't elude some rough enemies.

>>
>>375744164
Agreed. Hell, having player-made saves remain permanent would be nice as well, if only so people could enjoy replaying certain parts again at any time instead of having to begin anew every single time.

Of course, that would take programming Nintendo has no fucking clue of accomplishing.
>>
>>375744213
Not really. But perhaps because I was expecting the absolute worst.

I figured hard mode would be nothing but "Now you take twice as much damage! And you deal half as much damage!" and or "Health items restore half as much health!".
In line with the hard mode of the latest games.

Higher ranked enemies, while not terribly interesting, is certainly more interesting than the above at the very least. Especially if they add a higher highest rank.
And the plank thing, while kind of weird, does actually sound pretty fun.

If the game had done some survival something something, that might have been a pleasant surprise indeed. But I still got something slightly more interesting than I expected. Even if it's still a wasted opportunity.
But it will probably serve the purpose of making a subsequent playthrough a lot more interesting.
I hope it ranks up the bosses too though. But I am guessing not. Hopefully they can surprise me.

I never said they would, I said they don't use their Ancient weapons because they don't want to waste them on trash, which is completely true.

Because it exists to be killed, and combat is core gameplay. There is no context, you won't be wasting an Ancient weapon on trash in any scenario save it already being at the breaking point.

>Sure
Then why did you say it got the same results.

>the Master Sword still kills them more quickly than most weapons
But not Ancient/Lynel. The durability system encourages very rarely touching your best stuff, which is retarded and goes against how weapons should work.

>on only not to use them for some strange reason.

It's about as bad as it could be, and being paid is just a laugh. P5's hardest mode (though stupid bullshit) was day 1 free download.

Like what? As has been discussed, having instant healing removed would not be good at all. If you're on one quarter of a heart, you're literally fucked because if you have to let 10-20 seconds elapse before your hearts return to a point you can take a, it would just be pure frustration. However, the idea of making eating be more important would be nice, as it would mean having to keep yourself well-stocked with food so you're not running low because you had a meal earlier.
>>
So this is what is allowed to pass as an expansion?
>>
>>375744949
That's only if people keep making saves and not overwriting/deleting some. Even then, I meant they don't know how to make dozens/a hundred saves like other games usually do.

>>375745017
Yea, of the same season pass. I meant that they probably have another pass in mind with more packs of its own.
>>
>>375745017
>Hard mode basically is you deal less/take more damage because the mob is one tier higher in place of an existing one.
Yeah. So it's pretty much the same thing. But it's still more interesting than if you simply took more damage and dealt more damage with the enemies otherwise remaining the same.
>>
>>375745176
It actually sounds like what a lot of classic expansion packs did; adding content that enhances the experience. Aside from hard mode being something that should have been included from the get go, it's not a bunch of shit that should have been in the base game like so many others where they remove quests/missions and even characters just to piecemeal them out over the course of a year.

Don't see why not. Not like the lower enemies entirely vanish once the next tier appears.

Sounds like you're mad because Nintendo didn't make another traditional Zelda game and went in a different direction instead. I've been there before. I can't stand Majora's Mask even though everyone else likes it. Doesn't make all those other fans who adore it and all the positive reviews of it go away though. Maybe you're just a special snowflake like me.
>>
>>375745480

"Classic expansion packs" were almost always significant new content almost always developed well after the game has been out. Sometimes the new content rivaled or beat the quality of the main game. Yes this one is cheaper but they've listed one new dungeon/bit of story (if the latter is more than token given the base game story I'd be surprised), wave of enemies mode, and a lot of stuff that many games would patch in for free.

This is nowhere close to a real "expansion" despite the use of the term. This is Borderlands DLC.

>Korok Mask
But it's easy to know when a Korok is nearby, because they leave visual clues and they make a distinctive sound. If people need help finding Koroks, they probably need a more general location rather than a proximity sensor. Eg. if talking to an already-found Korok pointed you to the approximate location of a hidden one, rather than just laughing at you.

Otherwise it all sounds good, though. I might shell out for this provided OP isn't rusing.

Is it cheating to use amiibos?
Because it's actually a switch in the option menu, I have never turned amiibos on. It feels like I would forever dirty my save file if I did.

Yet I have the majority of the amiibos and am just short of 200 hours into the game. It is very tempting to turn the option on for the amiibos, but again, it feels like it would forever sully the save file.
Am I just being silly?

All they do is drop some food/materials, and maybe a chest with a weapon or themed outfit. The lattermost are outfits that cannot be obtained any other way in the game (at least for the foreseeable moment), such as NES Link's tunic or the outfit worn by Wind Waker Link.

The weapons are usually fairly standard, you won't be getting anything too OP from them.

Zerk armor has the same effect as the attack buff you get from food, and doesn't stack with it, so Ancient with Ancient weapons and an attack buff still ends up stronger.

Zerk would let you spin longer for 2H sword charge attacks, gives you the attack buff passively for elemental stuff, and can use a defense buff, but I'm not sure if that would match the defense of Ancient.

>I said they don't use their Ancient weapons
But you phrased it as if that's all a give player would have. Realistically, you'd have a variety of weapons for a variety of encounters, including encounters for what you would consider a low-level enemy.

>There is no context
BS. You don't just fight everything you see. It's not a beat-em-up game, so you will end up having a reason beyond just beating them up. Most players make a cost-benefit analysis. Is this monster guarding somethign I want? Does it have something I want? Is it carrying something I want? Do I want to fight it just for fun?
There is always a context.

>Then why did you say it got the same results
Because the end result is a dead Guardian with minimal detriment to your weapons. The only difference is a few seconds.

>The durability system encourages very rarely touching your best stuff, which is retarded and goes against how weapons should work.
This is a self-imposed issue. I regularly use high-level weapons. Do you know why? Because I can always get more! You can't complain that it "breaks the game's flow" to have to get your favorite weapon again, but also never use it in the first place. And really, by the time you can easily afford Ancient weapons, most enemies are already dropping gear that is just as strong. And before you go "muh ancient proficiency," you can use Berserker armor or buff your attack up if those extra few seconds less of battle time is that important to you.

>problem the Master Sword wouldn't be special at all, would it?
The problem doesn't exist because the solution already exist. Broke your precious weapon? Buy another and stop whining.

>Which requires putting your normal progression on hold to possibly farm and teleport across the map.
Again, this is a self-imposed problem. Either get over it or use other weapons instead.

This isn't a good reference. Top is supposed to be atop the clouds beholding a marvel to explore in. Not some cliff.

Bottom is supposed to show suspense. The architecture and landscape surrounding it is identifiable not some every other cave with an every other shrine inside.

Whatever anon posted this is really desperate.

The old Zelda died out awhile ago and now we have a game that complements this new age of Zelda. Why do fans try so desperately to act like it's all the same?

Japanese Zelda at last!
>>
Anyone notice how the game is actually properly lip synched to the Japanese voices?
The master sword memory was a pleasant was a pleasant experience over the original for the lip synching alone.
>>
>>375749427
The old formula was getting really stale. Even then, elements of it are still there. You are free to explore to your hearts content, no longer going down a guided path like the other 3D games where you only got free reign after hours of dungeon crawling.
>>
>>375697361
I can't tell if half these replies are ironic or not. Weebs are extremely socially inept and think overacted Japanese voices with forced, unnatural inflections are some how good.
English Rhoam and Mipha were bad and the Gorons were terrible though
>>
>>375749458
It doesn't say the reds won't appear, though. Just that areas that normally started out with them will have blues as well. The red ones will just be mixed in.

Yes the emphasis on exploring is there but it is not the same as it was in Zelda 1. Just like different artstyles. It's all art but it's different kinds of art.

>>375749650
Nip voices are pretty okay. Zelda is legitimately great, the champions are more run-of-the-mill with Revali being kinda bad, but it's certainly a lot better than the English voice acting.

I hate people like you. Changing the game even when it hurts it just because you like something is a shit idea. >But you phrased it as if that's all a give player would have
No I didn't, I even noted you'd trash it with the Master Sword.

>including encounters for what you would consider a low-level enemy.
Which would be the Master Sword, throwaway trash gear or elemental stuff, the latter being quite rare.

>You don't just fight everything you see.
Speak for yourself.

>so you will end up having a reason beyond just beating them up
Says who.

>Most players make a cost-benefit analysis.
Yeah, and the cost is the shitty durability system means you're not going to waste your good shit on trash.

>Is this monster guarding somethign I want
Which would be irrelevant if your shit doesn't break.

>Because the end result is a dead Guardian
That didn't die as quickly, that is not the same result.

>The only difference is a few seconds.
It's more than that, and in a short fight those seconds represent a considerable difference in killing speed.

>I regularly use high-level weapons.
Define 'high level'. Anything less than Ancient/Lynel for raw damage output is garbage.

>I don't mind pointlessly wasting time to get back toys I should be able to hang onto indefinitely in the first place
Duly noted.

>You can't complain that it "breaks the game's flow" to have to get your favorite weapon again, but also never use it in the first place.
No, I said I wouldn't waste the best shit against trash, regardless of how you play your non-Master Sword weapons are going to break and if they weren't one of the many redundant weapons and you want to continue to use it you'll have to hunt down a replacement, which is dumb.

>by the time you can easily afford Ancient weapons, most enemies are already dropping gear that is just as strong
Are you retarded?

>And before you go "muh ancient proficiency,"
This isn't just about Ancient gear, it's about all the better and more interesting weapons. You're on a sharp kill limit before they shatter like glass.
