Honestly, who the fuck knows. This is a motion controls game and we all know how big market that could be if people are still interested in it. People say that the Wii was just a fad but I find that very hard to believe. If Arms becomes a big success it will be because of motion controls. Wii Sports Resort sold 90k in a year and that game is old as fuck.

Hey, I'm hoping I'm wrong, but from what I've seen. Even though the designs are neat and the colors are vibrant, it just doesn't look like it has the solid gameplay that splatoon has.

Plus, as someone who has played with my friend's switch, I have had times where one of the joycons was unresponsive.

65 or 70 metacritic.

Probably about 200,000-300,000 sales worldwide with most of it being Japan and some interest in US.

It won't be the absolute worst Nintendo has done, but it will get a lukewarm response and will be fairly barebones and under-supported.

Black and White and Brawl do not surprise me, I still see them being sold in several stores that still stock DS and Wii games.

What surprises me more is Diamond and Pearl doing so well. I have not even seen those games sold in stores outside of used copies since around 2013, so I am guessing a good chunk of those are Japan.

Will start with decent sales and grind to halt as soon as Spla2n releases, but with good reviews and/or updates, it should at least crack 1 million sales by the end of July or August.

That, or memes and waifu/husbandobait will skyrocket the game's popularity on social media, and the game sells a fuckton.

Screencap this.

I'm saying it's so generic it basically has no original characters at all. Several characters are copy paste from other games even, and that's not thinking about the characters that's just from movies and shit. It's basically like playing through Vice City and saying it's super original if you've never seen the movies it's based on. It might seem original but it's actually really generic.
>>
81
1.5 million

I'm guessing purely based on Splatoon's reception and attach rate, because ARMS looks like to fighting games what Splatoon is for shooters (an experimental shakeup of a popular genre from out of left field)
>>
>>375697426
Yeah dude, you're still not saying anything. What is it generic to? It seems you're implying it has influences from multiple sources, can you elaborate so to better articulate what you're trying to argue?

It'd take hours to explain it to a non-art faggot. I explained it in the easiest, quickest way possible. But if you really want to know look at the characters and compare them to famous characters from movies/games/anime and see how many you can nail down. You won't be able to nail where every character is from but you can probably place a fair number of them.
>>
>people actually think this is going to be more than a gimmick

Lots of characters in everything take influence from other sources. That says absolutely nothing about its visuals or art direction.

Yeah, but how you use those sources vary greatly. Take the movie The Untouchables. It's what I would call a generic movie because everything in the movie is a cliche, which is what most of Overwatch characters are. A cliche, stereotype, generic. Overwatch doesn't need original characters because it's a MOBA FPS.

A generic what movie? I haven't seen it, so that works as a great example. Is it an action flick? A romance? A docu-drama?

I have no clue what perimeters for what makes it generic.

The difference is that Splatoon has better gameplay that isn't waggling shit and customizable characters.

I really don't see ARMS becoming the next big Nintendo IP. It doesn't even have it's own direct.
>>
>>375699014
>waggling shit
Splatoon has gyro controls and motion controls in ARMS are optional
>customizable characters
Did you even play Splatoon?
>>
>>375699014
It doesn't need to be Pokemon to become profitable. I think Nintendo created this IP to feel out the market for a 3D fighting game. They've talked about it before that it's strange that every fighting game is 2D.

I wonder which controller has the advantage in ARMS, because gyro has a much bigger accuracy advantage over sticks.

Also, yes! You can choose between boy and girl inklings and you can put on 3 different articles of clothing with abilities and sub abilities, and of course pick different weapons.

Again, ARMS hasn't had a direct, AND Splatoon had a testfire. ARMS has no direct or easily accessible demo. It's unreasonable to think it will have the appeal that Splatoon had globally.

I mean, Bomberman sold over 500,000 copies. What it has on it's side is being a launch title, not having much to choose from, and being an already long-established IP. How much do you think it'll sell, man? And why do you think it'll be a sleeper hit like Splatoon?

Because you're also retarded and you live inside of a bubble where everything that isn't on a Nintendo platform doesn't exist. Tekken, Soul Calibur and Virtua Fighter are some of the most iconic fighting game franchises of all time and they're 3D. If for some reason you don't count them, there's titles like Virtual On, Gundam Vs and the recently released For Honor.

That's what a 2D fighting game is, anon. You're thinking about 3D in a literal way. Do you have assburgers or something?
>For Honor.
No, I know what it is but it's not what I would call a fighting game. It also happens to be dead so I don't understand what point you're trying to make.
>>
>>375699683
Not the same person you were talking but

>Again, ARMS hasn't had a direct
It had 9 minutes worth of dedicated time in the last direct, in addition to 31 minutes of gameplay during the last Treehouse Live.
They still dedicate large portions of times to it. They haven't been doing as many directs since Iwata died since they probably lack the same dedication to them that he did, so they just combine everything into bigger directs now.

>ARMS has no direct or easily accessible demo.
It's unreasonable to think that it WON'T get a demo. It's not releasing until June. I fully expect a demo at least by then.

Even then, it's playable at dozens of events and they recently held a large scale tournament in Japan for it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkU_6ICKAL4

Everyone who's played it has had very positive reactions to it, even critics. It's unreasonable to think it'll do poorly. Maybe not Splatoon levels, but it certainly won't be another Codename Steam.
