That cuts the worst of the mid-game sag. On a Rail is better than people think it is, it's just right in the middle of that big boring industrial section in the middle of the game. You gotta cut levels from the middle because you have to slog through them to get to the GOAT chapters of QE and Surface Tension. Xen is still shit, but you can just stop playing at Lambda Core.
