That would be a good thing. Silent characters with abundant sound effects are cute, voice clips are counterproductive. Kirby was much cuter in KSS and KDL3, and they were just as charming in Air Ride without any voice at all. Kirby's personality should be conveyed through action. He has more personality in any level skit from any of the old games than he does in the entirety of Return to Dream Land. Voice clips are very much the Tanabe thing to do, instead of investing in expressive faces/movement and a wide variety of cute sound effects. Not to say that Kirby is as sterile as NSMB, that certainly isn't the case. Voice clips are just a creative crutch.
I'm not opposed to Kirby characters having dialogue though, in the form of text boxes. It worked out well for Marx and Meta Knight.

Someone made a nearly half hour long compilation of "aru" throughout the series, I've always wondered why DL even had them to begin with and found it interesting that they became such an environmental staple without anyone ever bringing attention to the fact.
I suppose its just the first game's first environment defining the series' look, but at least in Mario the pipes and blocks have gameplay purposes, these things have only ever been background elements

I would say DL3 is one of the better games, people try to play it like it's Super Star and when it's just not playing like Super Star it's judged accordingly. I like Kirby's more simplistic roots about as much as the newer games like Robobot, I play the original trilogy every so often along with Adventure and Super Star.
AM is rough, and I don't care for the art direction, but it's not bad. Collectables are fun and it plays well enough when you figure out that you have a map. I don't think having simple 1-hit powerups is a bad thing for any Kirby game either, and it could work in the game's favor if it's designed around it. That kind of game could definitely done better, but so could DL3.

No, there are also slopes, platforms, blocks, vertical segments, water sections, hazards, simple puzzles, and most importantly enemies. In simple platformers like Kirby, enemy placement and their attack patterns are an important part of level design, and that game has like 60 kind of enemies too. DL3's level design is varied enough. There are a few sections that require certain partners and abilities but designing a whole level would go against the whole concept of freedom and experimentation in all Kirby games. You don't have to re-do a mission unless you fail
I think all the missions are a lot of fun, they're varied but also follow a pattern, so after world 1 you kind of know what to expect, and you can get a general idea of what you're supposed to do from their icon. The only one I hate is the green guy that Chuchu has to slap. There's no kind of clue for what you're supposed to do.
That idea of take what you want with you is part of the series charm. I do like the idea of optional challenges based around an ability, the Wii games did those very well, you weren't forced to do them to progress. Something like that for DL3 would have definitely been a plus, maybe someone will do a romhack.
I don't disagree with your comments on Amazing Mirror. Fair points, the levels do have a feeling of being stitched together.

From his last posts almost a year ago.
>Hiya. I'm still around. Just so you all know what's been going on with me is that things are looking up. I've spent that past few months building a house for me to move into with my dad. It actually should be done this weekend or next. It's brought me closer to my dad and has helped me cope with some stuff. I'm really happy now and I'm finally going to get to live on my own I even found a new (and non-abusive) girlfriend. She's the best and has been helping me with some concept art here and there.
>I feel a little pressured about it. I just need everyone to understand that I am one person trying to recreate a game that a large team of professionals made. I'm not a large team and I'm certainly not a professional. I'm just a nerd who loves Kirby and wants to made one of his wild dreams a reality. If I was rich I'd probably hire a team who knows what they're doing to help make it but for now it's just little 'ol me and my little computer.

He's liked Kirby since DL2 if his expression in the end is anything to go by, but he still tried besting Kirby in like a dozen spin-offs and boss fights after that. A friendly rivalry isn't interesting without the "rivalry" part. He can like Kirby, but he can still be jealous of him, annoyed by him, and want to prove he's better than him in every way and throw his weight around whenever he can. His personality has softened naturally after getting defeated a few times and reflecting, which is good, but his core personality traits should still be there. Narcissism, childishness, selfishness, wrath, envy, gluttony, greed, etc. Dedede can be all that without being an evil person since he's toned himself down. Why not fuck with Kirby whenever he can get away with it? Why not stir up some trouble early into the game's plot? Why not steal some stuff because it's pretty or useful? He's the king, after all. When he's helping out, why not do it aggressively, smugly, and brashly? He's still gotta be King Dedede. He should be like a minor bully with a secret soft side, who defends his "friends" from bigger bullies. Maybe even a bit like an anti-hero. I was mostly just talking about RtDL though. Not so much the other ones.

Dedede certainly does need some character portraying that sort of behavior like in the first Dreamland game or Kirby 64. I felt that RtDL was the worst offender of this since it offered no explanation as to why he allied with Kirby and offered to help someone for no reason. At least Squeak Squad still have Dedede "helping" Kirby out by throwing the fuckhead at the robbers and throwing all of them into a pit. So I'm excited to see what Blowout Blast would do for Dedede and the plot behind it.
