/v/, what is your favorite Vanillaware game?
Odin Sphere. I hope 13 Sentinels is good.
>>375669214
Me too. We're finally getting gameplay at E3 :)
>>375669127
>ass in the middle
Disgusting
>>375669127
Muramasa still. DC is close but much more grindy. Odin Sphere is just reuses areas way too obviously for me. I'd rather have a large world with backtracking required than have the same areas reshuffled 5 times
>>375669127
Odin Sphere by a long shot.
Muramasa was just okay, and I didn't care for Dragon's Crown.
>>375669440
Ireland plz
>>375669127
Dragon's Crown no question. Got a shit ton of hours out of that one and I only really played Amazon and Wizard.
>>375669127
Not fucking Muramasa. How did they think that backtracking was acceptable. Also not Vanilla Odin Sphere.
The answer is Dragons Crown
inb4 some hipster FUCK says grim grimoire
None. They all have the prettiest graphics, but their gameplay is super repetitive and it gets stale incredibly fast. I've given them many tries over the years, but I've never found any of them fun.
Did OdinSpher Llajfsdlsdf fix any of that?
>>375670634
>Did OdinSpher Llajfsdlsdf fix any of that?
it gives you more buttons to press in combat but the format is still the same
dragons crown, i hope after 13 sentinels they will start work on on a sequel
it's all the same thing.
dragon's crown
special place in my heart for grim grimoire though
I don't like Vanillaware games.
They are all good. They are not games I'd play that much for the gameplay itself, but for how good they feel in motion. But if I had to choose, I'd go with Odin's Sphere, just because of the story.
>>375669127
GrimGrimoire
>>375669127
odin sphere controls like shit
>>375672250
I hope they do a remaster/remake for GrimGrimoire
>>375669337
>:)
fuck right off
Muramasa, though I mostly enjoyed the boss fights in it.
The one with catgirl DLC.
>>375672250
Grim Grimoire has a special place in my heart just for the character names.
>Margarita Surprise
>>375672825
i want gwendolyn to sit on my face tbqh
Murumasa Rebirth = Dragon's Crown > Odin's Sphere
>>375672963
That part was cute.
>all the cats dancing
The farmer DLC was funny too
>kicked out of hell due to work ethic
>>375669127
Odin Sphere was my first and still my favorite. I didn't really get into Dragon's Crown tbqh but that's mostly because of it's focus on multiplayer.
>>375674473
I have never found another game that has polished DLC on par with Murumasa.
>>375674594
I never got around to getting the DLC for Muramasa. I know people all say it's worth it, but I haven't played in forever and don't really remember the game much at all.
Can I buy the DLCs and just jump in and play those? Without having to worry about what swords or whatever will carry over from the main game?
>>375675212
yeah, they're all self-contained
and each has their own little weapon type/special move thing/skill tree too
10k% worth imo
Muramasa. I'm a weab.
>>375675212
Yea the DLC are stand alone storys and quests that just share the same world.
They will meet characters from the normal game but they have new bosses and objectives. They follow their own path with their own weapons.
>>375669127
Dragon's Crown was the best
>>375675212
You have to level from scratch for each one, and they're just variants of the main system. You might be rusty, but I'm sure you'll do fine.
When are they finally following up on their promise to release those games on PC?
I legitimately can't decide between OS and DC. I played both of them over the last year and fucking loved both, though OS got a little too repetitive for me. Had to take a break. Definitely got my money's worth though. Took me some 40 hours just to beat the game not counting all the shit I didn't do. I think I'll end up beating Muramasa this year. I have it for the vita due to PS+. Never seen the dlc go on sale though. Like not even once in the last few years.
>>375675768
Never ever faggot. The source that said that was happening was one website and no other sites covered the supposed quote. It's made up.
>>375674473
>going to back-alley restaurant as gonbe
>special sad music
>his dialogue when you buy the most expensive item
>>375675663
>>375675398
>>375675315
Thanks lads. I'll pick them up soon. Any recommended order to play them?
>>375675768
I hope so, but I'm beginning to think that the whole story was fabricated from the get go. I only really want to play Odin Sphere thoughhttps://steamdb.info/app/378820/subs/ maybe?
>>375676776
All are good. Start with the character that interests you the most. They are all quite different.
>>375675768
That whole rumor and story had absolutely no legitimacy to it, apparently.
Anyways, my favorite is torn between Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir and Muramasa.
>>375669127
I love odin spheres story to death, especially all the small details that tie together the world, and i loved the item management and alchemy in the original, but Muramasa is more of a fun time, especially with the DLC.
Rajyaki is the most fun character i've played as in a long time, sucks that all the music in her story was so fucking quiet that I couldn't hear any of it other than final boss.
They're all boring, repetitive, and button mashy games with little depth, but people will jack off all over them because of the art style. Odin sphere was probably the worst out of all of them when it came to this, and just because you get a character that plays slightly different that anyone else 20 hours into the game does not mean it's not repetitive.
>>375676869
THanks man. And I just looked on the store and it seems you get all 4 for $15.00 so that's nice. I finally finished OS:L recently so I can still scratch that Vanillaware itch.
I really hope they throw muramasa on the ps4 or switch someday. I don't want to dig out my vita to play it again.
>no grimgrimoire Remaster on vita/PS4
It's their only game I haven't played why the fuck haven't they done anything with it
>>375677058
i wonder who could be behind this post
muramasa>odin sphere>dragon's crown. Aren't they making a mech game now?
Ive played Muramasa and it was a solid game and the dlc was great.
Dragons Crown was bare bones and meh.
Odin Sphere I never played is it worth a playthrough and is it the same combat style as MM and DC?
Dragons Crown ez. I loved the everliving shit out of it on PS3 and Vita. Cross-save was a godsend. Too bad they tried to go full jew and charge you twice for it but I bought it on PS3 and got it on Vita with PS+ shortly after.
>>375677183
Its on PS3 as a PS2 classic, but yeah I want a remaster so badly.
Who else hyped here? I wonder what the combat system is going to be like?
>>375677275
The new odin sphere is basically just Muramasa but with a much more serious and understandable story, and item management, but the original is closer to princess crown and has MATH. Regardless of which mode you play its definitely worth your time.
>>375676776
Loli oni is about form changing and is the easiest to play since in her true oni form she kills everything.
Okoi's story is very hard and also quite dark since you are actually the cat and you actually fight in different forms based on power, still if you use your demon cat form you cant die and kill everything in seconds.
Finally you have the peasant story which is brutal hard since there are tons of enemies, no money and you have to use 3 characters with weird attacks.
>>375677515
Ill probably pick up the ps4 version then since i do like beat em up games.
>>375677567
You are missing one story about the Ninja guy and snake girl.
>>375677515
Leiftthrasir is basically Muramasa, but better. Actual combos, skill trees, etc...
>>375669127
Dragon's crown. I need to play the Odin Sphere remake though, maybe that can take it from mid tier to top tier.
>dragon's crown sequel never
>dragons crown Remaster on PS4 with 4k support never
Why is life suffering?
>>375677275
Odin Sphere is longer than Muramasa but very repetitive and the story is alright. Play it on Normal since enemies become hit sponges on harder difficulties.
>>375676776
>>375677567
Not that anon, but agree on Rajyaki and Gonbe, but Okoi is also pretty easy since her normal human form is incredibly fast, focusing on that makes her very strong.
This anon also completely forgot the 3rd DLC, which is understandable, it's easily the weakest, as you have 3 incredibly fragile weapons that are all very awkward to use and all of the weapon arts and normal attacks eat durability, and not a very fun story compared to the other 3.
>>375669214
If it's not Vaporware, that is.
>>375678205
It was confirmed canceled like a month or so ago. Right before Persona 5 came out here.
>>375678205
I think Atlus USA listed it under their section on the E3 website.

Dragon's Crown. but Muramasa is a close second.
The love for Dragon's a Crown itt makes me smile. It really is their best game.
How are people saying Muramasa? Half that game is running back through the level you just cleared.
>>375679351
emulation
>>375681151
the dlc makes muramasa really really good
>>375681151
And the sword breaking mechanic is dumb as fuck. It has the best bosses Vanillaware's ever done though.
>>375681215
>PS2 Odin Sphere
>Wii Muramasa
LMAOOOOOOOOO

This. The only way to play those games is on Vita

Art and graphics alone don't carry games, people. That's all I'm gonna say about Vanillaware.
>>375669127
I dont follow studios like a pleb. I follow directors.
>>375681990
You're right. Thankfully their games have great gameplay as well!
>>375682318
>PS2 Odin Sphere and Grim Grimoire
>Good gameplay
Please stop lying on the internet. We have enough of that as is.
>>375682375
>PS2 Odin Sphere
Maybe he's not a third worlder who plays games on a PC so he can afford the actual good version of the game. Though I'm sure OS for the PS2 has to be better than Petition Quest 3.
>>375682917
I have Leifthrasir on PS4, jackass. It's a great improvement in a lot of areas, but they still failed to address the elephant in the room: the repetition. I dropped it after Mercedes' scenario cause I knew I was just gonna have to go through the same levels and fight the same bosses two more times. I had enough. The game was going nowhere and I couldn't care less about its pedestrian, fairy tale plot.
>>375682917
see>>375681928
only a few more months and it'll run perfectly on emulator.

Whoa dude calm down no need to get so angry.
>>375669127
Sentinal 13 is being shown at Sony conference this year. Finally
>>375669127
I love them all but i've spent more time on and go back to Dragon's Crown more often.
Best part of VW games for me?NEVEREVER
Why is Muramasa either cakewalk or fucking infuriatingly hard?
Good god, fuck Tengus.
>tfw Dragon's Crown never got any DLC
