Microsoft will be able to maximize profits by focusing on a niche and not trying to copy nintendo/sony. Xbox One doesn't have an identity, and can't gain one by copying other consoles. 360 was the FPS/Halo machine with superior online service. Xbox OG was the "adult' console, with superior graphics and built in DVD player.

Xbox One is a console that lacks any killer apps, plays most of what PS4 plays but with less exclusives, and ports all of it's upcoming exclusives to PC. It has no identity of it's own.

What's the fucking difference? If you really think about it, most games these days are subscription-based, they just don't tell you. When large chunks of content start being hidden behind $20-$30 paywalls you're essentially playing a subscription-based game. No different than something like WoW level-locking you until you pay up.

He went and clarified this. It's not like they're never going to pursue narrative driven games but games like CoD and Destiny are naturally more successful, they're able to maintain their player base for years. most games that came out the same year as Destiny are basically Dead and CoD even when its shit people still play it and when it's good like Black Ops people are begging to continue playing. He's objectively right to focus on games as a service because people will play those games when the game droughts start happening.
