Steam is far more open than console platforms.
You can also patch your game whenever you feel like it.

When FC came out there were multiple patches every few days, sometimes more than one a day with minor fixes to problems people were finding as they went through.

Quartz positioning in your orbment is important. You can actually produce different arts by moving the same quartz onto different slots in the orbment sometimes, for example.

Read the bracer notebook to find the requirements for arts like Hell Gate and Aerial, then get them as early as humanly possible. They will make everything so much easier.

The one change i like from TC and foward, is that they drop the excuse of limiting you to bringing only 4 people along, and everyone is always together, even if only 4 fight and +2 serve as support.

The extra bit of text for certain stuff if you bring someone along is nice, but i'd rather keep it straight forward by just having everyone moving along together. Plus, it makes no sense to limit yourself to 4 people considering most of the shit they have to face.

Hard to say. Campenella seems to suffer from a severe case of "comes off as average but is clearly holding back" type of deal. He has many tricks up his sleeve and if the salt pale S-craft is indeed a thing he can do for real story wise, then he can basically kill anyone he wants, since the salt turns people and materials into salt, so insta kill.

Would depend on if he wants to kill the person or not, but considering he only takes on the role of observer, i don't see him purposely fighting all out until maybe the series Climax.

I really loved chapter 8. It has all the best sidequests.
The only negative is the lack of Olivier, but his reappearance more than makes up for it.

Also speaking of the miners in chapter 8, and other hidden quests, does something happen, or get acknowledged if i don't trigger the hidden quest to save them, or rescue the students in the academy? Both of the events were some serious shit, and the miners were completely fucked if not for Estelle and Co joining the scene, and the students in the academy.

Does the game mention anything about them if you just proceed through without caring to do them? Kloe talks about how you helped the students when you see her again near the end of the chapter, but i'm not sure if you don't go investigate.

From what i can see the casualties would be:

The NPCs in Cold Steel are better-written than the characters that are actually important. Pretty much everyone who goes through that game will find some NPC they really like. For me it was Kenneth, but I think Linde/Vivi are the most popular overall.

You pretty much need to be a lorefag to enjoy Trails. The gameplay is alright but not amazing, and there's a lot of mandatory reading for events that unfold fairly slowly. It is for this reason that there's a fairly steep drop-off between people who bought the game and people who made it to the end of First Chapter's first chapter.

If you do end up liking it, though, you will probably become obsessed with it.

Well the story pretty much wraps up in SC, but I think playing 3rd without FC and SC will be an incomplete experience. Part of me wants to tell you to get it anyways since the game will need all the sales it can get, but I can't really recommend it with a good conscience.
