It's only true for worldfirst fagos. After some welfare tomes, you can easily pass DPS checks without getting that last extra maybe 4 GCDs. They help, but aren't necessary with the stats that welfare gear gives when the current raid/fight is out.

Take T5 conflags for example. Every bit of DPS was absolutely crucial for that shit, but when you get some welfare gear it's simple to pass.

Healers only have it hard with shitters who still get hit by the same mechanic past the first 3 times, so when they take damage requires some twitch reflexes. However this is still easy if you're not staring at your GCD bar and health bar like a mindless zombie and are looking out for red circles and target lines and know the monster rotations so you can easily prep for when possible damage is about to come. It's not hard either. It's only harder if you're healing shitters who can't learn mechanics and simply dodge avoidables. Otherwise keeping your perfect rotation requires watching both the boss and your buffs and GCDs every second, whereas with healer your'e maybe looking for big hits and your dots every so often. Not hard.

Well yeah that's true. I think I understand what the issue is now and why healer is "harder." For something that you're trying to do progression and have to beat an enrage timer, DPS have to maintain perfect rotation for the entirety of the fight, whereas for healers they don't have a sustained rotation they have to be pulling off the whole time, but it's usually for a few points in the fight when the raid damage taken bursts. But because this isn't 100% of the time but only a bit, the healer doesn't have the rotation imprinted into their muscle memory like the DPS has after 4 fights so it's second nature.

The leveling in this game feels like training mode for children, but then it never actually accomplishes that, but only feels like it. You have some super basic rotations, where it's braindead until 40 at which point you finally have a meaty rotation. But even then most classes generally are 1-2-3 (stays like this forever for PLD lmao) until level 50. And then for some they jump more as you reach 60.

I have no idea why they designed the leveling to be so shit. The gameplay changes drastically when you reach around 40-50 (depending on class) but I don't know how else they'd do it. I guess they could've put in alot more abilities as you level so you have a meaty rotation much earlier on, but then I guess you wouldn't feel any sense of progression if your old abilities were replaced with stronger abilities but the rotation is the same. They could also have created an entirely different rotation early on that, but then they probably don't have the dev capacity to develop rotations that will be used for maybe 1% of a job's lifetime.

I think the solution is to just cut exp required to level by like a factor of 10.

Classes and talents in Vanilla had more unique features that made them stand out from each other.

Like in BWL you needed to have Rogues that would disarm slowing traps for example. And classes hade unique content, rewards, quests, buffs and in some cases bosses who drops special loot.

The bring a person philosophy is kind of against all that because even if it sounded great it also meant you would shut some players out of content because of the class they played. So to let everyone in they streamlined content to follow core roles instead of classes.

We're sort of in the uncomfortable middle ground between hardcore and casual. Everyone has a 70-80 median with purple/orange bests, but we just went 3 days a week for progression and cleared slow (7 weeks). Really sloppy, but with potential to be good if we put in the time outside of scheduled raid days.
