I will say this, technically people in the 80's got the best vidya game experience given that they got to experience arcades in their prime, the real beginning of home entertainment (pre-n64 era), and ultimately had the money without having to beg their parents to buy whatever piece of vidya they wanted. I'm alright with being born in '93 which would make me 24 since I got to experience the n64 and got to visit some dying arcades to play DDR and fighting games in public, but don't kid yourself saying that people born in the 90's had the best vidya game experience. 2nd best at most. people who are born right now will probably have the 2nd best imo though because I feel still feel like VR is going to get cost efficient soon and when it does it will take off. I started playing YGO when it first came out in the states with the yugi and kiba structure deck. family was generally poor growing up so i had a hand-me-down nes with about 40 games and didn' replace it until n64s could be purchased for $100 brand new.

i did have a grey brick gameboy i received from my grandmother with games like kirby's adventure and later mole mania.

later got a windows 95 pc followed by windows 98 and played dungeon keeper, starcraft, and starseige when they were still fairly new.

was forced to sell nes and gameboy to pay for n64 but by this point i had a gameboy color and later gameboy advance so i didn't think about the great games i was selling for peanuts.

received a gamecube in 2003 (by the time i was 16 i started mowing lawns and started buying my own games including retro games.

IMHO the comfiest year ever was 2000

There was so much hype for this year, that a lot of cool stuff was released just for it. Also heaps of futurist fetishism.

There was just so much fucking optimism at this time, which built up over the 90s. Felt like anything was possible, and that things would just get better and better. 9/11 sort of completely crushed that optimism, and that's really the time when the 90s culturally ended.
